What is Oatmeal?

I live in Australia and I read a lot of post about people eating oatmeal. I am not sure exactly what this is. If we have it in Australia then I don't think it is called oatmeal. My thinking is that it is something that is very fine. Is this the case?

In the supermarket here we have oats and quick oats but I can't find anything called oatmeal. Can someone please discribe what oatmeal looks like in its uncooked format so I know what I am looking for?

Are there any Aussie's out there who know where I can get oatmeal?
