Some people like them slightly underripe and firm. Myself I like them ripe with just a little bite to them. You ?

I wait until they're starting to get spotty..then cut them up, freeze them and use them in smoothies :)
  • Depends what they're for. Soft but not over-ripe for my favorite meal: a slice of whole wheat bread with 1 tbsp peanut butter & half a sliced banana layered over top, with a teaspoon (or less) of honey drizzled on it. Or WAY over-ripe to make banana bread (helps with the moistness). Or any which way (but nice if it's slightly overripe) for a smoothie.

I stick it really far down my throat, as far as I can go without gagging. Then I take it back out and do it again. I repeat this many times in rapid succession until I gag and bite it off.

For smoothies ripe to just starting to spot.
I bought a Yonana so I buy more bananas than I know I can eat and once their almost brown I peel & freeze them for various Yonana recipes.

I like to eat them with my mouth. I've tried to consume them one other way. It wasn't as pleasant as one might think.

A bit firmer than ripe. But not too under ripe where you get an overly bitter taste.

cut up, frozen, thrown in my magic bullet with a splash of dark chocolate almond milk and a tsp of coco powder, then blended to the consistancy of soft serve ice cream. Yay Bananas!
