HELP! Did I pull a muscle in my stomach?

I need some advice from someone who might have an idea on what I could have done to my stomach. My family just moved a couple weeks ago and my husband and I were lifting things that two people should not lift alone. About two days after we moved I started having an occassional pain to the left of my bellybutton. It's not a huge area...maybe golfball size, but there's no bump or anything. It doesn't hurt all the time, but if I try to jog, do more strenous workouts, or just overdo it on housework duties it will start to hurt a little bit. It is just a dull pain when it hurts unless I push on it. That makes it hurt worse. I am guessing that I strained or pulled a muscle while lifting fridges and washers, etc. I am wondering if anyone else has had something like this happen and how long it took to get well. I just ordered P90X recently and it will be here Tuesday. I am thinking I should probably hold off until my stomach is all healed. Any advice, suggestions, or comments are warmly welcomed!

Could be a number of things to include a pulled muscle. Go see a doctor.

You probably have a hernia and should have it looked at by a physician. Unfortunately, if it is a hernia, he will recommend no lifting or jogging.

Hope it is "just" a pulled muscle but my friend is laid up & is scheduled for a hernia operation that sounds alot like your case! Please see the doc !! Get better sweetie!!!

Isn't there always a bulge with a hernia and lots of pain? I did a little research on line and a lot of the medical sites said those things. I know I will probably have to see the Dr. even though it doesn't hurt too bad. The fact that it's been over two weeks and it has not gotten better is not good. :frown: To top it all off, today I was sitting in a chair and reached over to pick something up and pulled a muscle in my back!!! :grumble: I only have 12 lbs to go to my goal and now all of this happens! Oh well. We'll see how this week goes and I am just praying that the Lord heals all this and then I won't have to pay all that money to the Dr.! Not to mention I can start my P90X!

Thank you to all of you for your advice and well wishes. May God bless you all and have a fabulous weekend!

I went to the Dr. today and he wants me to see a surgery. Though there is no bulge, he said it sounds like it is a hernia and he said that a lot of times with hernias in the area mine is in there are never bulges that go outward. We'll see what happens next. I am hoping they will be able to tell with an ultrasound. I don't want to do a CT scan if I can help it because we would be paying pretty much out of pocket since we have such a big deductable. I'll keep you all posted as I find out more.

  • Best of luck for good news and that they will be able to avoid a CT scan. Glad you went to the doctor.

    Feel better soon.

Hello everyone! Just wanted to let you know that I do NOT have a hernia!!! THe Dr. said that it is a strained muscle. Could take 6-12 months to fully recover, but no surgery! So grateful to the Lord that it wasn't more serious!

Blessings to all of you and happy Thanksgiving!
