Hiya,
Just thought I would intriduce myself. I'm a 33yo female from the UK with about 50 pounds to lose. I've dieted before, got close to my goal and then sabotaged myself which is annoying. But I'm going to try again. I'm following a low carb 'diet' as its been sucessful for me in the past and I am a bit of a carb addict. Looking forward to hearing from you all!!

Hey Dee,
Welcome to MFP.
I'm relatively new here too, it's a GREAT place to be with lots of supportive people, I know you gonna love it.
I've just started Low Carb Eating this week.
(personally I don't like the D word - just look at the 1st 3 letters ;-) )
I would be interested in learning more from you as you've done the Low Carb thing in the past.
Wishing you every success.

Hi Loozin,
Thanks for the kid welcome! You are right this place does seem to be quite supportive so I'm looking forward interacting with people.
As for the low carbing way of life, I know its quite controversial but it has worked for me in the past for numerous reasons, firstly I am a carb addict. I can eat a whole loaf of bread with no problems. And dont get me started on doughnuts rice and pasta! Also I'm insulin resistant so even though I love carbs, they dont love me! Low carbing also keeps me away from processed foods which can only be a good thing. I dont know if you saw that documentary on the BBC about "The Men who made us fat" Thats some sobering stuff.
I try to keep my carbs between 20-60g per day. Sometimes its way less than 20, sometimes its more depending on how much vegeatables I have. The first three days are hell. Some people have headaches but I dont, I just miss the carbs. You do tend to lose a heck of a lot of weight in the first couple of weeks but that is just water and your stored glycogen depleting but I tended to loose about 1-3 pounds a week after that so its by no means a quick fix. It jsut works for me as I am never hungry but I just have to avoid the bread isle at sainsburys!
Hope this helps! What 'diet' were you on. How are you finding the low carbing so far?0 -

You can have a look at my diary, its opened. I eat everything and i'm addicted to rice, there is no way I could give it up. For me portion control is the main thing that works and counting calories allows me to see how what I likes fits. And this site means i'm accountable to not just myself, so prevents slipping.0

Thanks Ms_walker!
Unfortunately I need to cut out rice to start with. I may introcuce it but for now I'm joing to stick with my plan as it has worked in the past. Also I have PCOS and I am insulin resistance so reducing my carb intake has helped with my symptoms.0 -

I hear that. What works for one doesn't work for another. I think that we all need to find what works for ourselves.0
