Why does MFP only give me 1200 calories a day to eat when my BMR is 1457? Is that to include deficit to lose the weight? I thought we were suppposed to eat at least our BMR?

With 34 pounds you want to lose, make sure your weekly goal is set to one pound a week, and your activity level is set accurately. Also, when you exercise, it adds calories to your daily goal. Be sure to eat them.
Otherwise, you'll end up being at the bare minimum of 1200.0 -
Set your goal to one pound per week.0

She probably does have it set to one pound per week. Try 1/2 pound per week. MFP sets your goal depending on the information YOU put in.0
