I have no idea what to set my macros at!!! I have a hard time reaching my protein with this setting. So do I change it or does that just mean I need to work harder to reach my goals?

I'm 190ish lbs.
5'6

I just want some advice on what my 3 percentages should be. Thanks!

I use 40/30/30 as my goal and what I have been eating before I made this change was 50/30/20. Not too far off but I know I will see an improvement.

    What is your protein goal?

MFP's defult setting for protein is 15% I think, which is quite low.

to change it, go to goals, and chose custom, then you can change your macro percentages.

You think, I think, the FDA thinks, Canadian Health thinks, and the dietary reference intake that are the guidelines boxed nutritional information is based on thinks that also. "According to US & Canadian Dietary Reference Intake guidelines, women aged 19–70 need to consume 46 grams of protein per day, while men aged 19–70 need to consume 56 grams of protein per day to avoid a deficiency". Now that's deficiency, so if you're taller, or larger, your number probably should be up higher.

"The American and Canadian guidelines recommend a daily protein dietary allowance, measured as intake per kilogram body weight, is 0.8 g/kg.[15] However, this recommendation is based on structural requirements, but disregards use of protein for energy metabolism.[15] This requirement is for a normal sedentary person.[17]"

I'm about your height (5'7) and 120 lbs and worked out that my intake should be at least 96 according to this...when I'm sedentary.

Unfortunately I don't think science has been able to give anyone a clear cut definition on what the magic number is. But I know when I was eating about 50-60 grams a day and increased to about 100 grams of protein a day my nails stopped cracking off. I pretty much have claws now :P
