I have reduced my calorie intake and have started exercising and initially lost 5lb however for the last 2 weeks seem to be putting weight back on. I have not given up my glass of wine in the evening though although it is included in my 1260 calories, any ideas why I am not loosing weight.

one glass of wine is actually good for you. have you recently started going to a gym? the reason i ask is that if you have started lifting weights it may be muscle gain. also if you managing your salt intake can some times help take off that water weight salts cause.

Are you making sure you drink enough water? Not drinking enough water can lead to water retention and push the number on the scale up. Starting any new exercise regime can make you store extra water in your muscles as the repair themselves too.

Don't blame he alcohol yet, since it sounds like you're being pretty smart with it. One thing though, are you sure of the serving size? It's very easy to accidentally double up because the glass is so much bigger than the amount you should be drinking.
  • Have you actually measured your glass of wine? I just ask because glass sizes have got an awful lot bigger over the years, and you may be taking in up to twice as much as you think you are in that one glass. You do need to measure it in mls and make sure that the calorie count that you record is accurate.

Same goes for other parts of your diet. It might be worth just going through what you eat a bit more carefully in the next week and checking that the portion sizes you eat are actually the same as what you are recording the calorie count for. It doesnt take much error on the wrong side to add up to a substantial amount of extra calories in a day.
