Just peed. It was GREEN. What the hell!?

Should I be worried? See a doctor? Ignore it?

This has never happened before. I'm not dehydrated or anything.

Advice?!?!

    Per Mayo Clinic:
    Blue or green urine
Blue or green urine can result from:

Dyes. Some brightly colored food dyes can cause green urine. Dyes used for some tests of kidney and bladder function can turn urine blue.
Medications. A number of medications produce blue or green urine, including amitriptyline, indomethacin (Indocin) and propofol (Diprivan).
Medical conditions. Familial hypercalcemia, a rare inherited disorder, is sometimes called blue diaper syndrome because children with the disorder have blue urine. Green urine sometimes occurs during urinary tract infections caused by pseudomonas bacteria.

Are you taking diuretics? Water pills can make your pee turn a bluish or greenish color.

    Thanks for your responses.

No vitamins, no dyes or strange foods that might cause this (already looked up a list of the usual culprits)... so confused! And slightly concerned

My supplements turn my pee lime green lol
  • I don't think you should worry unless it continues. Keep drinking water....lots of it...stay hydrated. Don't eat or drink mass amounts of green foods or liquids. Certain multivitamins or prescription drugs can alter the color of your pee. Could also be something you ate. No reason for immediate concern.

You probably ate something with a green or blue dye in it. When I have sonic slushies or a sno cone my pee is always rainbow colors :)

Thanks everyone... Feeling much better. Hopefully it'll just be a random fluke and I'll be back to normal soon!

So glad I have a place to talk about the color of my pee :D

I was just going to ask if you took a diuretic for water retention and you've answered it. I wish I had other answers, but I don't. If it happens again tomorrow I'd call a doctor just to be safe. Good luck.

I see you're a Minnesota girl. Me too. I could never leave here either. I love my lakes in the middle of my cornfields. LOL

Go to a doctor.....don't just throw it out there. Seek medical advice from a professional. Not from random folks!!!!!! Wtf?!?
