I used to really hate working out in public, but then I started running and love it. Running inside is now super boring! I do, however, still hate working out (to DVDs or whatever) when there are other people home or in the room. Largely because I don't like to be the only one moving while everyone else is planted on their butts watching and contributing to the peanut gallery.0

I used to be super self conscious about it and refused to join a gym for this reason. I started working out at home and I just sort of got over it. It started with c25k. I don't have a treadmill, so I was running outside. I gradually just ceased to care that people could actually see me. Then it got too cold to run outside and I'm a weather wuss, so I joined a gym so I could use a treadmill. That opened the door to the weight machines, which led to free weights.

I love how running is the gateway exercise to weights. Awesome.0 -
