Veggie Mixture 1/4 cup value

Good Day everyone - I am hoping someone can help me figure out a value for a veggie mixture I use at almost every mean - I mix a huge batch of tomato's, green peppers, onion, cucumbers and zucchini in a bowl and than I measure out 1/4 cup for my sandwiches, or salads or what not. Does anyone have a value I should use for calories, carbs, fat, protein???

Also why are bananas bad for you? Of course I just bought a bunch and eat one a day to keep my potassium levels where they need to be.

Also I could desperately use a friend or two if you are interested.

Thanks for any help you can give me

Connie

  • I think you can 'create a recipe' in the add food option of your diary, it will take a bit of math... And no banana aren't bad for you. They're a complex carb and very nutritious, my favorite pre-workout snack. The do contain a good amount of sugar so I wouldn't exceed one a day ;)

You can add me as your friend... I don't know how to do it haha

This site will give you nutrition info for a recipe that you enter. If it's something you do a lot, the recipe calculation is maybe worth it.

Can I ask why you think bananas are bad for you? Unless your doctor has told you otherwise, fresh fruit is generally a healthful option for most people. You can overdo it, just like with anything, but I think one banana a day is definitely within reasonable bounds. :)

I'll send you a friend request. You can add me if you'd like. :)

I was reading on another post that everyone kept saying bannana are so horrible for you and I love them. I know with Diabetes they keep saying complex carps and I thought this was one of them. I eat them as my afternoon snack.

Thank you for the website I will give it a go.... I may even do the build your own recipe too.

As far as I know, fruit is considered simple rather than complex carbs. Do you have diabetes? I can't make any recommendations about that, because I'm not sure what diabetics are allowed for fruit intake. But I wish people wouldn't make those generalized "this food is bad for you" statements, especially about whole plant foods, just because it's something they personally wouldn't eat. Sheesh. I'm sure you're doing fine. :)

If you are diabetic, you should limit your fruit servings to two a day. Bananas are loaded with sugar - I love them too but I buy the smallest bananas I can find! I like my bananas kinda green so I only buy one at a time anyway. I only eat 1 one a week because of the high sugar content.

Based on 1 cup serving here are some average carb levels (all fresh/raw):

    Blackberries - 19 g
    Banana - 35 g
    Apple - 19 g
    Mandarin Orange - 8g
    Peaches - 25.g
    Pineapple - 19g

I like the spark recipe builder because it gives you all the nutritional info for your recipe. For the sake of ease of entry, the recipe builder on this site works well too.

Bananas are like avocados to me...they are pretty high in calories compared to their fruit/vegetable counterparts, but they have so much that's good for you. Being diabetic might throw a a curveball at my reasoning, but, like avocados, as long as you don't eat too many of them, they're great for you!
