D-Ribose

I read on bodybuilding forums about body builders taking D-ribose for energy, muscle building, and for reduction in pain. I was impressed with their testimonial results. THEN, my bubble was burst when I found out Dr OZ (nut-job) endorses it.

Does anyone have any experience using it in a body-building sense?

I am not a bodybuilder, at all, nor do I have the aspirations. Just curious.

    Uhm, well it's actually a simple sugar. What I really do know about it is that your cells have to add a phosphate atom before they can use it for energy or break down into amino acids. I'm not really sure if this effect really does have a significant impact or if it's just them thinking that it works.

    According to WebMD, it does have some pretty neat affects. Apparently it doesn't go well with diabetics, as it lowers blood sugar and insulin levels.
