Can the MFP Android application be bad for your marriage?

I am looking at the history of almost a year of customers asking for a paid "Ad-Free Version for the Android",
The ads that very disturbing for a health based application. Yes, I can overlook many junk mail ads, but this last week my wife noticed my phone with the banner below "Meet Women...type of dating service" , "Expand your possibilities" and "Maxim Girls" click here to view...
My wife was very offended, as I entered my calories for the day, and she saw these ads at bottom of my phone - I tried to explain that the MFP is a health application and not a porn application! (yeah- that really went well!)
Rooting my phone and changing to various other Android apps seems to be a lot of trouble, like many others who have complained and asked to pay $$$ for an AD-Free version for over a year, so what is really the issue here?
Do women get the same ads as I am getting? Or are these ads targeted to "Males"?
And I thought McDonald ads and Junk food Papa John's Pizza for $10 was already tempting enough :noway:
Are women aware of these type of ads on MFP Android? If they are, would wives want to have such ads on their husband's phones?
Since there is no "Ad-Free Paid Version for the Android"... It has been a year...
Any thoughts from MFP users???

Do you get the same kinds of ads on the site? As far as I know they're based on browsing history... I'm not sure about the android app.0
-
I say stop going to those kind of sites lol ... I get a bunch of MMO games, protein powder ads, pet ads, mud runs (not sure why I don't run yet lol ) and FB ads ... but no meeting people ones
I would suggest cleaning out your history and your cookies on your computer and your phone as well ...
Good luck and remember a happy wife means a happy life as the saying goes ... (thank god I'm not married  )0 -
i always hear that it's based on what you're searching online... good luck with that, dude!!0

MFP has no control over the ads that display in the application. Either google or possibly some other 3rd party provider handles that.0

I get ice cream and TOMS ads. ^-^0

I have the Android app and I've never seen a racy ad. Right now I'm receiving ads from some game called "Rage of Bahamut" or something, and a couple of ads wanting to sell me marketing services, and some bank I've never heard of wants to sell me a Money Market account.
According to AdDetector by LookoutLabs, MFP uses the following ad databases/systems:
- MoPub
- Millenial
- AdWhirl
- AdMob
Of the four, AdMob is the most adept at targeted advertising. Including targeted ads based on, among other things, what OTHER apps you have installed. They are also one of the biggest players in the Android ad biz, so they're the most likely to have the most information about you. They are also a pretty well-established company with (for an ad company) a decent reputation, and have an opt-out for targeted marketing (the ads you see are based on what they know about you) you might want to research.0 -
I only get porn ads if I've been watching porn :drinker:0

you can't help what ads you get, what's up with your wife?0

Why would u let ur wife see ur Ph?0

...same! Any and almost all ads i get, I can correlate to recent browsing.0 -
It shouldn't affect your marriage! Sometimes those Ads come up if your watching a show on a free website. & I even get the "chat with lizzy" ads ... even if I'm not watching Rated R stuff:laugh:
You just have to show her so she can cool out.
My husband has stuff like that pop up! Then again I don't mind if my husband watches porn.0 -
My ads are always for Single Hot Women too!. lol.
I hear what your saying. It does suck that all the advertisments are for food, Vanity, diets or sex.
My husbands minor issues with me on MFP don't have anything to do with the advertisments.
I Would like to see a version without ads too. Even if you have to pay a little for it.0 -
Sounds like your wife does not trust you. If that's the case, the ads are the least of your concerns.0

That's too bad!
I can't imagine my husband thinking that I was cheating because of an internet ad. Maybe try finding a news article that explains how free apps use advertising? It's unfortunate that people react from ignorance. I hope the best for you!0 -
sounds like...
1. you watch porn on your phone ( a lot of porn sites have the looking for singles adds, not that I watch porn on my phone:bigsmile: )
2. your wife is crazy0 -

That's a myth.0 -
Thank you for that bit of information...
Something to look at ...
But, of all the replies, I will be honest, at my age - the biggest temptation is "Papa John's Pizza for $10
A wise man once said - "The sex will wear off in time, but you ALWAYS BE HUNGRY!" - in my case, it may just be true :sad:0 -
