    Ad programs being used by websites of companies with PR people (i.e. the people whose job it is to solicit others to advertise on their website) often are places for the advertising company to dump all the unsavory ads no one wants to carry. Thus the nudie girls.

    My ads are always for Single Hot Women too!. lol.
    I hear what your saying. It does suck that all the advertisments are for food, Vanity, diets or sex.
    My husbands minor issues with me on MFP don't have anything to do with the advertisments.
    I Would like to see a version without ads too. Even if you have to pay a little for it.


    I agree totally, here is a $5 or a $10 and take all the stupid ads off my apps... :drinker:


    They have apps that will block adds, for free.....

    Other apps I have which use AdMob:
    - Tide charts, weather apps, GPS apps
    - GasBuddy
    - Volume control apps, clock widgets, and other "utilities"
    - Chromatic tuner app, WiFi signal strength analysis, sound level meter,
    - music and video players
    - quite a few games

    Ads I have seen:
    - Games
    - Money Market accounts from banks I don't know.
    - Deals on airline tickets.
    - new smartphones
    - Audiobooks (specifically mentioning social media apps, videos, and games as "inferior" ways to use my smartphone).
    - Apartment and house finding sites
    - Google Play Music
    - Weight loss tips

    I have yet to see a racy or inappropriate ad in the app.

    On the desktop, I frequently see ads targeted to keywords in the ongoing discussion. Occasionally I'll see an ad that seems to be prompted by recent browsing (research a snowblower, start seeing ads for snowblowers, etc). But not on the Android app - that seems to be linked to other apps installed on there.

    So, not trying to say you do or don't visit such sites, or whether that should be even an issue - my wife knows that I window shop, but I always come home for dinner.

    1. you watch porn on your phone ( a lot of porn sites have the looking for singles adds, not that I watch porn on my phone:bigsmile: )

    I don't give a rip what my bf looks at on his phone...and believe me he's got a sick sense of humor and a vivid imagination, it could be ANYTHING! My ads are really boring...guess I need to step it up!

    I'm a dancer, so I just always get ads for the Shen Yun Dance Company.

    I thought everyone was getting that same ad, all the time, on the top and the side. But, then I found out it is based on our searches. LOL, it's there now, at the top and the side (Shen Yun Dance Company), oh well they are pretty dancers.

    I also get ads for humanitarian/volunteer work and helping underprivileged kids that need help. Also relates to me.

    But, the ads you get could just be because you are a man or some other statistical reason they are marketing to you.

    The only ads that come up on the computer or my Android are related to sites I've visited. If you watch porn on your phone that's why you get singles ads.

    Why would she even care if there were links to dating sites, unless she was insecure and thought you would use them?? Seems kinda silly to me. IDC what kind of ads pop up, I I am interested I will check them out, but I have the app for my weight and tracking, the other stuff is just insignificant to me.
    HOnestly, I have no issue with my finance seeing my phone, or vice versa. Trust is the key and shouldn't matter at all what ads are popping up??

    I havent seen any ads on my android MFP.
    But even if I had...my husband certainly wouldnt care if they were racey or adult in nature. He certainly wouldnt accuse me of anything! More like would want to compare to see if they are any better then the ones he's seen!!!!:love:


    Hopefully there is no other trust issues in your marraige that would make your wife feel threatned by an ad. Unless there is some self esteem or jealousy issues, or if you have given her a reason to worry, otherwise I just dont understand why that would be an issue. Just MHO. :flowerforyou:

    But, of all the replies, I will be honest, at my age - the biggest temptation is "Papa John's Pizza for $10 :devil:

    This is why she's upset. She thinks you are getting IT elsewhere (or are more interested in it elsewhere) than with her.

    Yep, I get those ads. Pretty sure everyone does. As someone who works in internet advertising, I hope I can shed a little light on the issue. Those types of ads (as well as those "belly-fat" types of ads) are very popular right now because they do bring in the money- they're "hot ticket" ads right now. Agencies pay a lot of money to have those ads plastered all over the internet world (cell phone ads are part of the "internet advertising" world. There are also advertisers who CAN target their ads to specific types of people (Males, people of certain age groups, people who recently Googled "wedding dresses" etc.) so it makes sense that men might get those ads a little more often than women.

    Mobile advertising is also relatively new, and it's not as successful as non-mobile advertising- people are less likely to click on ads on their phone than on their computer. Because of this, "quality" advertisers are more likely to buy on non-mobile websites, which is why on MFP.com you don't see quite as many of those crappy ads as you do on phones. The lack of quality advertisers on phones means the crappy advertisers get all the inventory, so those ads show up more on phones.

    The reason it costs to have ad-free mobile sites is because that cost needs to make up for the money the site would lose by losing their advertising. For some businesses, this might not be worth it- it depends on how much they depend on advertising for revenue, and free service sites likely depend heavily on ads.

    In any case, I'm surprised your wife would be upset with you using MFP simply because of the ads. If she ever goes online, she must see those ads as well, both male and female-oriented. It's unavoidable. If you have a Pandora account, you'll get the ads there. Games? Same thing. Unless you avoid any and all internet communities, it's going to happen.

    So that is why the ads appear as they do...the fact your wife is threatened by advertising is another issue that you guys probably should discuss.

    I am looking at the history of almost a year of customers asking for a paid "Ad-Free Version for the Android",

    The ads that very disturbing for a health based application. Yes, I can overlook many junk mail ads, but this last week my wife noticed my phone with the banner below "Meet Women...type of dating service" , "Expand your possibilities" and "Maxim Girls" click here to view...

    My wife was very offended, as I entered my calories for the day, and she saw these ads at bottom of my phone - I tried to explain that the MFP is a health application and not a porn application! (yeah- that really went well!):huh:

    Rooting my phone and changing to various other Android apps seems to be a lot of trouble, like many others who have complained and asked to pay $$$ for an AD-Free version for over a year, so what is really the issue here?

    Do women get the same ads as I am getting? Or are these ads targeted to "Males"?

    And I thought McDonald ads and Junk food Papa John's Pizza for $10 was already tempting enough :noway:

    Are women aware of these type of ads on MFP Android? If they are, would wives want to have such ads on their husband's phones?

    Since there is no "Ad-Free Paid Version for the Android"... It has been a year...

    Any thoughts from MFP users???

    why would your wife even care? It's an AD! If you had a dating APP on your phone, then you deserve ****.

    SO happy I'm single with NO drama (at home)

    most of my ads are phone related (ringtones and that sort of thing)..... not for women.
