GUACAMOLE - HERE!

Pretty much what I do, sometimes I omit the garlic (eventhough I love garlic)
And I typically used dried or fresh chilies over tabasco...that way you can make it spicier too.
Cilantro is awesome too in it.
It looks kinda nasty but mixing in diced tomatoes is pretty good too or salsa if you are feeling lazy.
I also sometime just use pure avocado or add some chili powder, cumin and oregano (one of my favorite combos)
Guacamole is awesome, I know someone who almost called it" whack a mole" cause they never heard of it and thought it was gross. This was not by accident either...some people???!!???0 -
LOL that is awesome, thank you! I am going to try the chili powder, cumin and oregano combo... I've never tried anything like it before, it sounds delish!0

Homemade guacamole - 3 avocados, chopped red onion, chopped jalapeno, chopped cilantro, juice of one lime and sea salt. Mix it up and it's delicious. Add crushed garlic if you like - but yummy without it.0

I can't wait to try these....!0

I cut mine with tomato: equal parts avocado and chopped tomato, cilantro, red onion, garlic, lime juice, and cumin- maybe a little of your favourite hot sauce on top- SO GOOD.0

I have to be honest. I am not a big Guacamole fan but these recipes sound great. I am going to try some. Thanks for sharing.0

This avocado yogurt dip is my new obsession. It's like a creamy guacamole dip.1 -
am i mistaken or is cilantro french for parsley?0
-
Cilantro is also known as Chinese parsley. It's not parsley though. It grows from the coriander seed I believe.0
-
I wing everything to taste, but....
2-3 avocados, some garlic, some garlic salt, a bunch of tabasco, some lime, some onion, cilantro, and onion and tomato.1 -
just been searching for answer , it seems it is the flat leaf parsley as opposed to the curly type . looks so much like coriander and is same family. it`s jogged my memory to nearly buying it instead of coriander as it appears so like it. i prefer coriander to this other , it has a more perfumed aroma and taste0

I have 2 ripe avocados just waiting to be made into guacamole!lol0

I have Never used garlic.
Mine -
Small onion, diced finely. Juice one lime and pour juice over the onion. Dice one jalapeño and one plum tomato finely. Mash two avocado. I then just play with the ingredients. I'll drain all of the lime juice from the onions into the avocado, then just add a little of the onion, jalapeño and tomato at a time along with some salt until it tastes right.
I also recently started adding cilantro too. Same thing, chop some up and add a little at a time.
The chef at my favorite local restaurant swears by cumin but i don't care for it as much.0 -
I don't have exact amounts as I just 'eyeball' it, but ...
2 avacados - one fork mashed, one chopped
1 medium jalapeno - minced
1-2 garlic cloves - minced
Zest and juice of 1 large lime
about 1/3 cup each - chopped tomato, chopped onion and chopped cilantro
cumin, salt, black pepper to taste0 -

Cilantro is coriander.0 -
I LOVE avocados, but I am allergic to them, they make me incredibly sick. But oh, how I love them! Enjoy your guacamole for me...0
-
Omg, I LOVE, love, love guacomole... I don't have a recipe that I follow, I usually just mash an avacado, add 1 or 2 tsp of sour cream, teaspoon of lemon (or lime) juice, and some salt & pepper to taste... I like to add the sour cream for a more creamier consistency but I've had it without it and it's just as good.0

I'm with him/her. I think a little cumin makes all the difference!!0 -
Avocado, salt, pepper, cumin, cilantro, lime juice, sriracha, jalapeño, onion, tomatoes, and garlic! now im craving some guaq0
-
I add in diced tomatoes and onions, some corn, and cumin, chili powder, and garlic salt. I'm pretty sure it needs lime juice, but I never have any on hand.1

These all sound so good!0

2 avocados, juice of half a lime (and a little squirt of lemon to help the color stay greener), a handful of diced tomato, diced red onion, a minced clove of garlic, chopped cilantro, a tiny bit of cumin and sea salt........ Turns out perfect. Sorry. I don't measure foods when I cook. I am a pinch and handful Italian woman.0

I agree, the secret to a great guac is cumin! Fresh cilantro makes a big difference too. Fianlly, I prefer lime over lemon juice, but lemon is fine too.
Here's my recipe:
5 avocados
juice of 1 lime
2 roma tomatoes, diced (optional)
2 cloves garlic, minced
about 3-4 tablespoons fresh cilantro
1 tsp. cumin
kosher salt to taste
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. cayenne or other chile powder (I live in the SW so there's always a good selection of different local chile powders- experiment to see which you like best!)
Put everything in a bowl and gently mash to keep a chunky consistency. Add more lime juice to keep from browning. Should last in the fridge for 2-3 days.1 -

He is a pretty incredible chef. I think I am just used to "mine" now. Maybe I'll give it a try next time I make it.0 -
bump for later0

Bump! These ALL sound good, thanks!0

I absolutely love Guacamole!! Thanks for the great recipes. For those who are wondering about Cilantro, here's a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coriander
I don't particularly care for the taste, but lots of people love it.0 -
I just got this recipe from my brother's girlfriend last weekend...
6 Avocados, mashed
2 limes, juiced
1/2 can of Rotel Hot Diced Tomatoes
2 Roma tomatoes, seeded and diced
1 envelope of hot guacamole mix
Red pepper flakes, to taste
Cilantro, to taste
Cumin, to taste
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
Best if refrigerated overnight. I like to leave the avocados a little chunky, but you can mash them to whatever consistency you want. Makes a lot - if you have leftovers, be sure to squeeze a bit more lime juice on top so it doesn't turn brown.0 -
Avocado, sliced, still chunky
Diced tomato
Diced red onion
Cilantro
Drizzle of lime
Sea salt
Perfection.0
