Am i right in saying there seems to be a big trend here that people are finding it hard to eat all their calories and coming in under their recommended numbers ? I've never been small but after having my daughter 17 months ago the weight just kept coming - despite cutting back my food (and breastfeeding till 15 months) and the more weight I put on the less food you would try to consume. I went to the dr here a couple months ago and she did a series of tests which most came back fine on and she advised me to watch what I was eating and exercise daily for at least an hour (all of which I had been doing the last 8 months) I went back to check up and had lost a good amount of centimetres but my weight hadn't gone down. Without checking out my diet she's advised me that my calorie intake is clearly outweighing my output. That's when I found this site !!! Added up my calories for the day and I was lucky to be scraping the bottom of 700 calories !!
It seems to me that people are too quick to assume you're solely overeating if you're overweight these days and that actually there's a whole lot more to it than that. I'm off to see the dietician on Friday just to get a better idea of things so we shall see what she says.
I guess I'm just curious to see how many other people are in or have been in a similar situation - I know my mother's been the same. And for those of you who have been under your calorie allowance how much better are you feeling now for actually having fuel in your body ??

Absolutely have been there. In fact, I think this has been my problem all along. Start out eating too few calories, lose for a week or two, then my body adjusts to the too few calories, then I get discouraged and stop and gain an extra 5 plus all the rest. I have been doing that since I was 30. So, I'm trying to do this. Eating the extra calories is the hardest thing to get used to, but I'm going to try.0

Well I applaud you for going to a nutritionist. I actually just started this site as well and was shocked to figure out that I was not even close to eating the 1,200 calories the site recommended. I had always noticed that I would lose more weight on weeks where I thought I was eating too much food but I thought it was a fluke. I hope you find out some helpful information and congrats on having a baby!!!!0

Yeah that's the crazy thing eh - when I would eat whatever I wanted (including junk food) I would lose weight quite noticeably ! And since I started logging my food and eating up to my calorie allowance I have felt so much better (my partner and daughter will also agree I'm a much nicer person lol) I've had a few bad days where I've skipped meals and been low on the calories and that definitely results in no energy and a very bad mood ! It really is hard to get your head around the fact that if you eat more you lose more (to a certain degree !)
Thanks for the congrats too !0 -
Let us know how the appointment with the nutricianist goes!0
