Hello all,

How many pounds do I have to lose if you are a full, fluffy, plump gal like myself 285 (EEK) does it take before you see a difference.

I noticed some small changes like my rings slide around easier, and I have to keep pulling my pants up but when I see pictures I don't see a real difference.

How many pounds before you guys started to see a real change?

I dont think it takes much at all. When I first started, at the point that I lost about 8 pounds, people were telling me that my face looked thinner. The first thing that I noticed was the way my jeans fit on my booty. Then again, I think it depends on how and where you carry your weight. (i.e. for me, I carry alot in my tummy/butt area. So I (still) havent seen alot of difference in my arms, ya know??

I've lost 15 1/2 lbs. and my weight is pretty high up there. I can't tell a difference in pics, either, but when I'm looking at myself in the mirror(naked), I can see and feel that my stomach is smaller. :)

I carry most of my weight in my tummy and butt as well, usually I lose in my face first too but I can't see it (yet) I can't wait for the day that I can upload before and after pics!! I love when people do this because one day... One day.... This will be me too lol.

I notice little at 32. Are you doing strength training as well. I'm not doing much but 15 to 20 minuets with 3 to 5lbs weights. I also use Leslie Sansone workout resistance bands. They helped with the inches Ive noticed.

I just started strangth training about 5 days ago. I LOVE the way my muscles flex when I am using the weights maybe I am vein but it kinda keeps me motivated to keep using them. I'm like OooOOooo there IS SOMETHING under this flab!!! Lol. I might have to purchase some resitance bands I think I will do that before work today :)

i havent lost that much yet, only like 3 inches on my waist (no scale) and people keep telling me my face is so much slimmer now and i'm getting a waist again. and that was only after one month. i dont think I'LL see the difference until i'm in a new pant size.

It is going to depend on a number of factors, like height and just how you're build.
But for me it was around 50 pounds when people that did not know, started to notice :)

It depends on where you start. I think the heavier you are, the longer it takes. I started around the same weight as you, and I've lost about the same and I don't see it either. I can feel it though, and the inches show it! You'll get there! Keep working hard! Good luck with your transformation!

I started at 235 and people who I had not seen in a while noticed around 30 pounds down.
  • I am a fluffy girl too! :ohwell: I have been losing slowly for a while and almost no one notices. I can't wait for the day when it is obvious. We can do it!

I have "fat person syndrome" myself. I lost 30 pounds almost 2 years ago then the past month kicked back in and lost my last 5 I have been fighting with and sometimes I still feel just as fat as I was back then. I have always looked thinner because I am almost 6ft and now that I am at my goal everyone can't believe how skinny I am and I love hearing them tell me that I look so good but in my clothes I still have the habit of sucking my stomach in and then I have to remind myself to relax my stomach that it's not sticking out. So, sometimes even though you might not feel skinny and fabulous, you have got to remind the old fat girl that that is not who you are anymore to stop whispering in your ear and remind her that there is a skinny girl in her place now =)
  • The saying I was told was:

"You notice a difference in your body after 4 weeks
Your friends notice a difference in your body after 8 weeks
And the rest of the world notices a difference in your body after 12 weeks
    . . . don't give up!"

It seems to be a true statement. After working out and eating healthier for 8 weeks my friends started to make comments. At this time I had lost just around 20 lbs.

Best advice is to TAKE PICTURES. You won't see the difference in the mirror. Take progress pictures, you'll be so glad that you did!
  • At first, no one noticed much. After abotu the first 40-50 pounds, and I lost 2 clothing sizes, people started to notice.

I honeslty think when your pants are loose on you, get a size (or two) smaller - the difference will be immediately noticeable!!

I started this journey wearing a size 38 pants. Today, I wear a 20, and I look at them and still think they are too small, but when they fit comfortably, I am amazed!! Thats when "I" can see (and feel) the difference. Dont get me wrong, I still wear a lot of my 22's.... but I did just get rid of all of my 24's! I am now looking for 18's and have a size 16 outfit up as my next "goal". I use sizes as my goals now - instead of numbers, because I plateaued (sp?) for 2 months, and lost 2 complete sizes, so the scale doesnt mean anything to me anymore... lol...

Keep working at it - soon, everyone will be commenting!!

I think the heavier you are to start with, the more pounds you will lose before you see a big difference. I'm 5'5'' and started at 208, and didn't notice much difference until I lost 20 pounds. It took me that first 20 pounds to even drop a pants size (which was a thrilling milestone for me). It's simple math really. A pound is a pound, but a pound off of a 208 pound person (at 5'5") is a smaller percentage of total weight than a pound off of a 150 pound person (still at 5'5"). But, don't let it get you discouraged. Remember, the more pounds you lose, the more those pounds are going to count in the mirror or the dressing room. Use it as motivation to keep going.

I just noticed a difference yesterday. I'm bigger than you, so maybe it happened a little sooner. I've lost 11 inches around my waist and I can tell now. I don't think I look any different in clothes or pictures yet though.

First of all, you HAVE seen real change... what you have seen is just the beginning but it IS still change! You have to take every single accomplishment and rejoice because weight loss is hard!

I am a tall lady (5'10") and started at 255 and am down to 228 now. People have started noticing, but it's not all that obvious. It's more people who haven't seen me in a few weeks/months. Around 30 pounds (from previous experience) people REALLY notice!

YOu're rocking it, just keep it up!

I started at that precise weight (well 285 was my highest, started this time at 282.6..)

    I'm 5"8.5

It took me about 30 lbs to really see a significant difference, but it is significant. My stomach and behind are all thinner for sure. It didn't take me that long, I'm doing atkins and I typically lose 5-11 lbs a week. 255 now.

    Edit to add:

The first weight where I think I'll feel fairly happy about how I look is 210, or 199, 196! 199 puts me in Onderland, and 196 puts me in the "overweight" category... haven't been there in years.

I had to keep telling people how much weight I was losing at first. I started at 215. When I got to 180 people
really started noticing. Keep going and you will start to see a difference. Every body is different. I am at
about 160 now and people keep calling skinny. Crazy Dont forget inches matter just as much as weight.

I'm approx. a month in and I can see the difference in my stomach for sure. I always lose weight in my belly first. Everywhere else, not so much yet, though I have better posture now (that I've noticed!). I haven't gotten any comments, but I'm only down 6 pounds overall.

I lost 25 pounds and I didn't notice a difference either until I got an app that puts 2 pictures side by side and then I did.

i think i first noticed when i could go to the store and try on a new size. take pictures, i truly think they make a difference. so like every friday or something take a pic of yourself.. you'll totally notice a difference.

i get nervous because even after 102lbs, i still feel like i am the same.

I think that it depends on the person sometimes too. I lost about 30 pounds before my wedding last year and everyone kept telling me how amazing I looked but I never saw the difference. But not that I have gained it back and I look at my wedding pictures and now I can see the difference.

I think it depends on your height and build. I would think you would see a difference in 10-20 lbs and a more significant difference in 25-50 lbs. Either way, DON'T GIVE UP!
