I actually eat five times daily and each 'meal' includes a protein, carb and healthy fat.

As for breakfast....its healthier to skip it, sleep in or go for a fasted walk, and eat after 12
OMG. I'm not professing to be a medical professional, but I know what makes my body perform better and feel better, and I know what makes it sluggish and feel like crap. A healthy (not huge, just healthy) meal to start the day (with protein) gives me energy and enthusiasm. Skipping, or even delaying a few hours, makes me feel like crap. You come across as "I know what's true and everyone else is wrong, so listen to me and I'll tell you everything you know to get everything you want!"

But that is how you feel PERSONALLY. From a scientific point of view, the previous poster was stating what is a well know diet myth. There is no reason you HAVE to eat breakfast except for PERSONAL preference.
Nope--after 12 hours without food, my body needs fuel. Waiting another 6 hours doesn't magically make me healthier.

    Youd be surprised!

Read this series and it may change your tune.
    It changed mine!

Ok, I read the link. I'll say you can find studies to support lots of different ways to lose fat. In the end, I go with what makes my body feel healthiest. The benefits of breakfast for me aren't just emotional, habit or hormonal -- I lived that one-meal-a-day lifestyle for years out of habit, and didn't have half the energy I did within two days of starting regular breakfasts.
The article says fasting reduces insulin. I haven't taken my numbers fasting, but on a significantly decreased calorie count (healthy eating, just less of it), my blood sugar goes up.
I will say that every now and then, my body doesn't need food. So I guess I do intermittent fasting, but it's much less frequent than these articles prescribe, and I go strictly off what my body is telling me. And my body usually tells me it is happier and healthier with breakfast.

I'm sure you pass with flying colors!

I'm simply saying Breakfast has no relevance to increasing metabolic rate.

It's like saying "I fill my car up in the morning because it makes it go faster!"

I think food = energy. Some people NEED the energy in the morning. Be it from the sugars or carbs, whatever it is that gives you the energy that can help you avoid headaches.

Personally, I am not like this. I can go until 10 - 12 without eating and feel just fine. But I DO know some mornings I wake up (maybe I didn't eat enough the day before? who knows) and I am starving. I think everybody should just listen to their body and try to make the healthy decision. We all be different! Calorie-wise, it may not make a difference, but I believe energy-wise it does.

I am not a professional; this is just my opinion!

Note: I read somewhere that other than the "sleep needed" clock, your body doesn't know what time it is. It knows that it rests better when it is dark and it needs a certain amount of calories and food, but it does not know what time it is. For this reason, I eat because I am hungry and not because it's 8am or 12noon, or what have you.

    Yes.
    http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/releases/247640.php

And while cutting calories its a good thing to rest more as opposed to work out more.
Stress is lower so cortisol levels are better regulated.
    Or
You can get up, eat less causing stress, workout more causing stress, plateau....causing stress...
I can go on and on.
  • Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day. (Im saying this and I sometimes skip it too). It is the morning jump start on you metabolism, it will get you blood pumping. I also saw that you like to walk and do the stationary bike, the best time to do this is after breakfast this also helps jumpstart the metabolism. It is also best that you exersise at least everyother day for 30 minutes to get results from it. You calorie count is very low and that will slow your weight loss down quite a bit. You need and I mean need to eat you proper number of calories in order to keep your metabolism at the proper rate. Weight loss is a slow process, so keep working at it. Find foods you enjoy eatting a worry less about the calories, and plan a day or even a weeks worth of meals in advace so you dont have to worry about the calories you are eatting because it is already done.

    :flowerforyou:

Most of this is false unfortunately.
    Breakfast doesnt jumpstart anything.

OP just needs to know that food is essential.
And if shes smart she will do the research and figure out what she needs to diet down.
I can tell you that copious amounts of cardio will get her nowhere.
Eating below BMR will work for a little while.
My clients lose weight by eating below TDEE and above BMR daily with frequent cheat days.
    Simple!

As for breakfast....its healthier to skip it, sleep in or go for a fasted walk, and eat after 12pm.

This will clear up quite a bit of confusion.

"healthier" ...well, that's to be disputed. and MOST of what that poster wrote isn't incorrect, only the tidbit about breakfast being one of the most important meals of the day. Intermittent fasting has its benefits but as far as being "healthier" I think it's completely dependent on the individual. There is no difference between some rising at 6 and eating at 9 and someone rising at 9 and eating at 12....assuming they've gotten the same amount of sleep--so "eating after 12" is a bit misguided.

    My own opinion...

It takes all kinds of fat people.. lol. That being said, i also have a fear of eating. Well.. i have a fear of carbs! I never was a big eater, but what i ate was horrible. burgers, fries, pizza.. the greasier the better. And i was SKINNY. That was 10 years ago. At age 24, i had a blocked artery, and had a stroke from a blood clot. I only got fat (for the first time in my life) after i was bed ridden for nearly a year...

People cant understand why im fat, but i dont eat.. they assume i hoard food and stuff my face at home, but pick when i go out.. and thats not the truth at all.. i actually TRY to eat more when i go out because the people who KNOW me know i do not eat. Even my kids BEG me to eat.

To help with my metabolism, i use a protein shake 2-3 times a day, and have my dinner, but i STILL have 200-400 calories left over in a day.. so i am SLOWLY learning that things like carbs are okay.. just not an entire plate full.. but im scared to eat it. I see the scale going up and up and up and thinking about how bad i feel when i eat that.. instead of me making better choices, i made one thats just as bad.. i dont eat.

Also, my husband works night shift, so for years it was drilled in my head.. "dont eat after 6pm" heck, thats my lunch time! So that was hard to get over too.

Bottom line.. dont listen to the ones who say "i WISH i had that problem of not wanting to eat!" because those are toxic people. They arent here to support you. Just as they cant control their eating, you cant make yourself eat.. its the same game, just opposite ends of the field.

Feel free to add me. =) Good luck to you!
