Ok, so I have been having pain for about 6 days now. I figured it was my gall bladder as I have had problems with it in the past & was supposed to have it taken out 3 years ago. So I went into Urgent Care tonight & it is my gall bladder. I have to repeat a scan either tomorrow or Friday. I asked the doctor what to do with the pain in the meantime. His answer was simply don't eat. Just stay hydrated. Not sure how that is supposed to get me through the day, just drinking water. Anyone else have experience with this?

I found this and hope it helps: During a gallbladder attack, you should limit your diet to low-fat, low-protein, easy-to-digest and semiliquid foods. At the acute onset of the symptoms, you should not eat fried foods, eggs, broth, alcohol, dairy or processed or hydrogenated fats. In addition, you should limit the amount of food you eat. If you continually present with symptoms, you should implement a diet consisting of regular meals that include more fiber and vegetables and fewer carbohydrates and animal foods.

When I had attacks nothing helped!! I quit eating, I stopped fatty foods and fried foods, everything. You need to see a specialist and have it removed. That will end the pain. Good luck, I am sorry you have to go through this. The surgery is easy and I was good to go a week after surgery.

I had to do the same thing after a couple of attacks. It is an easy surgery. I had mine taken out on a Friday morning (released that afternoon) and was up and around Saturday doing laundry, grocery shopping, etc. I was back at work Monday morning.

I'd had issues for years & usually a few days of eating light would help. When it got bad, I had been having problems for a good 3 weeks before I finally gave in & made a doctors appt. I pretty much lived on bagels & toast. Not the best way to go, but it did seem to end up helping. The pain hadn't gone away, but was not as bad as it had been. The day I had my surgery, I actually felt pretty good. I ended up having 3 huge stones. Also got the talk about staying low fat, no dairy, soda coffee, ect. Hope you can find what works best for you.

Phoenix59... WOW! I feel like such a baby compared to you... I was off work for 6 days (tho part of it was due to having a weird schedule to begin with- my days off were Thurs. & Sat.- no point in showing up for 1 day!)
