Calories burned during weight lifting.

I noticed MFP doesn't count calories burned during weight training and I was curious if there is a reason for that. I found this link: http://www.livestrong.com/article/338469-how-to-calculate-calories-burned-weight-lifting/ that gives a formula for calculating the calories.

If there's a reason they're not counted here then I don't want to add them to my daily totals, however if it's just a feature that MFP doesn't have then I'd like to start adding those to my daily burn.

I would suggest using another service like fitbit or endomondo and tie it in with MFP. That is how I calculate weight lifting etc.

Do those sites track calories burnt as well? I use MFP, Runkeeper and Fitocracy now, I can track my routines but none of those sites track the calories.

Log "strength training" under the cardio section. The strength training section is for logging weight and reps, not burn.

If you want a reasonably accurate number, you need to wear a heart rate monitor with a chest strap and keep your HR up during your workout.

I use runkeeper, well I used to, but I use endomondo because it feeds into my fitbit, which in turn feeds into MFP. That i can guarantee works

Thanks for the info, I'll check that out. I do use a HRM but it's a strapless one, I just check it periodically throughout my workout.
