Anyone using Fitbit?

Hi all, almost completed my first week using Fitbit in conjunction with MFP. The results so far have been excellent! I always wondered just how much distance, how many calories and just how active I was on a day to day basis, and now I know. If there is anyone on here using Fitbit, please add me as a friend and we can compare results. My screen name on Fitbit is Jammy.

Good luck!

Hi, I think there are a few teething problems between Fitbit and MFP. I don't know how you do it, but I enter all my foods into MFP. When I do any training I simply press the button on the Fitbit for two seconds until the stopwatch starts. When I finish training I press the button again until the "STOP" and a flag appears. This will have logged all of your activity for that session and when you SYNC this with the website it should appear on your MFP "My Diary" section as "Fitbit calorie adjustment" with the number of calories that you have burned.

If your food isn't logging I would suggest that you re-check you've connected correctly. Check the "LOG" section, and then "FOOD" sub heading. This will show your meal summary broken down into Calories, Fat, Fiber, Carbs, Sodium and Protein.

    Hope this helps!

I love my fitbit, it helps keep me going. I feel guilty when i don't reach 100 percent in my steps, stairs and activity points so it makes me get out and get moving before I turn in for the night. feel free to add me, my fitbit screen name is the same as here Benisma1.
  • I am loving my fitbit more and more every day! It makes me stay active and reach a new goal every day! I am currently working toward 12000 steps every day! Feels so good to get up and get going! :)

You can force your fitbit to sync by inserting it into the docking station.

I had a problem one night where it wouldn't sync even with it in the station, used the reset button on the bottom of the station and everything synced normally.

I love this thing except for the weekends when I usually lay around and rest from the work week, I guess I need to get off my *kitten* and do something to keep up with my workdays, but damn I need the rest.

I have had mine since last wednesday. I am really enjoying finding out how far I am walking during the day and how many calories I am burning. I cannot get mine to sync wirelessly though, I always have to put it on its docking station to get it to sync.

i am really interested in getting a Ftibit. Looking at ordering one for myself. How long does it take to arrive? I am leaving early Friday morning for Texas for a week and would love to have it before then.

You check Best Buy on line and see if any store close to you has it in stock - I did that yesterday morning before the store opened, ordered it on line for same day store pick up and got an e-mail 10 minutes after the store opened that I could pick it up - can't get much faster than that - by the way - it's really east and quick to get started - good luck

My husband has a Fitbit and loves it. I've been considering getting one as well. Thanks for the post, I've been wondering how well it works with MFP (he doesn't use MFP).

I just went to Best Buy this evening and bought my fitbit. I am really looking forward to using this starting tomorrow and when I go to Texas for the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) Education Forum Annual Meeting (EFAM). This will be very interesting to see how well I actually do with everything..

  • Hey, I have been using FitBit for aorund 6 months now but have only just joined My Fitness Pal. Iam a bit confused, before I was entering my exercise in and it was adding the calories thta I had earned, then I synced my FitBit an dnow I keep getting extra calaories, beacuse of the steps I am doing. Shall I not record any exercise and just let the steps count towards it do you think? I am just a bit confused..

Darn it! I can't get anything with Lithium batteries shipped via USPS to our base here in Japan. Good news is that we are going home next week so I may just stop at Best Buy to get one as an early birthday present. I wanted to ask for a waterproof iPod for when I do laps but maybe if I'm SUPER good I can get both. It's for my health... yeah that's the ticket!

I am and I really enjoy mine, it really helps keep me motivated. I can track my steps and my floors so that I can meet my daily goal. I have been trying to get my 10,000 steps and 20 floors every day.... it keeps me from kidding myself. I have also been wearing a heart rate monitor, and I think the calories burned on my fitbit are not exactly correct, but I haven't quite figured that out yet. :)
  • Hi Jammy & other new Fitbitters!

I bought mine a few days ago and thoroughly sussed out all the pages/graphs on the computer playing around with it on the weekend. I love it and my fitnesspal as I'm in Australia and it has alot of our food products on there.

The only thing that I'm confused with is the stairs. I didn't do any stairs as such yesterday but I did go for a car drive which went up and down hills and I think that is what was recorded! I verified this with the time it gave me on the computer when it happened.
    Anyone had this problem? :ohwell:

I've seen ppl saying they are getting credit for movement when they are in a car, but it has yet to happen on mine.

If anything, mine misses stairs, unless it is a full flight. I have a 4-step entry into the house from the breezeway/garage. Even if I make a dozen trips up and down, it never credits me.

    Otherwise, love everything about it!

    I love my fitbit!
It's proven that I havent been eating enough.

I didnt link it to my account but I do keep track of its data on my diary daily.
So far eating 20% above TDEE(fitbit number) on lift days and 20% below TDEE(fitbit number) has yielded excellent results.

    Heres yesterday as an example:

Hi, I've got plenty of friends for now but that may change when I want to talk non stop about fitbit. I just wanted to share that MINE HAS JUST ARRIVED! THE DELIVERY DRIVER JUST LEFT. I was sitting reading about it during the one hour delivery slot and am about to open it. SO excited! So mad of me I know, but I guess you guys understand - its another gadget that's going to help me lose weight. Planning on having a normal week to start with to see how much (or how little!!) I actually move! Bye for now! Ripping open the packet whilst having a cup of tea!
