Cutting out sweets?

I'm usually an "everything in moderation" kind of person, but I've always struggled with my sweet tooth. I find that once I have a "little bit" of anything (cookies, candy, etc.) I always want more, and I crave it more than ever. I'm considering trying to give it up entirely to help stop these cravings.

A few questions for people who have done something similar:

1. How long before the cravings went away?
2. What "sweet" things did you keep in your diet? (cream and sugar in my coffee is non-negotiable)
3. If you splurged (for a special event, vacation, wedding, etc.), did all your hard work need to be re-learned?

    I definitely have the very same exact problem. i have a sweet tooth! and i find that i can go long periods of time without any cookies etc but then once i have a little I want more!

    1) I find that when i do decide to go "cold turkey" it probably takes just a few days for the cravings to go away.
    2) Instead of having sugar in my tea sometimes i'll use agave nectar and i try to stay away from cream. i actually posted a question about whether to use sugar or artificial sweetners because there always seems to be some debate about this.
    3) luckily thus far i've been able to get back on the wagon and not gaine anything back and that may be because i turn around and double my workout efforts the day after a splurge.. it is tough to go back to cold turkey and i've been struggling to finding a happy medium.

    i am addicted to sugar.
    i cut it out 2 weeks ago and at first it was hard (5-7 days) but I find already that I am satisfied with the natural sugar in fruit etc. I did give up sugar in my coffee but I cannot do without the cream. I do measure tho and put less in than I used to. I try to find foods that have the least amount of sugar (believe me it's in everything in some form) and stick to the basic non processed healthy foods. I cut out all junk and fake sugars etc - I love Diet Pepsi :(
    I have already dropped 5 lbs and actually feel better, my head feels clearer and I don't feel run down.
