How did you find your Motivation again?

I started this in May of 2011 and lost 25lbs. I kept it off until Feb of this year and gained it all back. The reason I stared in the first place was because I wanted to be fit by 40! I was nearly half way to my goal and after all that hard work lost motivation. I turned 39 a few days ago and I made up my mind I've got to do this. I have 1 year to get it done and I will be so upset with myself if I turn 40 and did not reach my goal. Good luck on your motiviation! I'm praying and seeking God to help me and I know that I can, because His Word says, "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" Phillipians 4:13.
Logging my food and exercise is good for me too, because I can see it and track it. I didn't do so good today food wise, but instead of continuing in my bad habits, I'm going to start new tomorrow. This really is a lifestyle change for me, not just a diet. I want a healthier life.

Yes I went to a trainer for over 7 months and I didn't lose anything. I got very depressed and stopped. I figured I was happy and it didn't matter. But then I got bigger and more depressed. I finally went to see a doctor found I needed to go on thyroid medicine. At the same time I received a wedding invitation for the family that I haven't seen in a long time. The combination of those things got me back on track and working harder than ever. Also did I mention I am turning 50 in Sept and that helped also. lol0

Absolutely my motivation too - someone posted a pict of me on fb from our weekend away and I looked horrible - certainly the motivation to get back on track!0

It's very hard to find that motivation again. It took me over a year of "Starting again" on Monday. Plenty of "this is it". Finally I had some real good friends recommend this site and it just happened. I finally feel in control again.

I lost my motivation for over a year, more like 18 months. I knew I had gained weight back, and I knew I had lost muscle tone. I wasn't happy with how I looked, but didn't do anything to change it. I had a treadmill and a gym membership and they both collected dust. I started thinking about working out again in April, and finally got moving on it last month. We joined a new gym and just hanging out there is really motivating. I took a fitness assessment and was horrified- my stats were much worse than I thought. That is probably my biggest motivator right now, I make myself look at those numbers regularly so I don't go into denial again. Try exercising again for a week, and don't put any pressure on yourself to maintain a certain speed or resistance, just do what you used to enjoy. After a week, I felt like myself again. And the more I exercised, the more I wanted to eat healthy and vice versa. Good luck, I completely understand how you feel.0

Agreed! Everyday is "starting again" Lol and in our case it's "STAHTIN AGIN"
Also, one of my motivators were moving to MA. If you take a look around Bah-ston, not too many huge people around. THAT can be motivating in and of itself.0 -

Anyone else ever lose their motivation for a long period of time (like over a year)?
What did you do to get it back?
I've been at the same weight for over a year, but I have over 60 more lbs to lose. What can get my spark going again?
I looked in the mirror and decided that I didn't want to be me, the new me, the fat me, the unhappy me, anymore. So I went for a walk. Then I went for a run. Then I started tracking my food. Next thing you know, I'm in full beast mode being an athlete again and loving every second of it.
Go take a good hard look in the mirror and make a decision.
^^This is exactly how I did it. I saw a picture that pissed me off. I started C25K even though I hated to run. I was running a 5k distance within 4 months. I got back on the weights and liked the results I was seeing. I've now run a Warrior Dash and lift as heavy as I possibly can.0 -
I've been down this road so many times. This time feels different to me. I'm not sure how, I'm not sure why, but it just feels different.
I joined MFP last year and never used it. In April of this year, I started using it again - and quickly fell off the wagon at Easter. Then, at the beginning of May, a bunch of my friends on FB decided that we all felt like we needed to do something, so we started a closed group for ourselves on there where we could motivate each other - and be accountable to each other. Something just clicked. By the end of May I rejoined my old gym (where I hadn't been in YEARS) and since then I've been working out 5-6 times a week - either in the gym or going to long walks at the local park. It's gotten to the point where I feel like crap if I don't do some sort of exercise.
Since I've started I've lost 19 lbs and dropped a clothing size and THAT is all the motivation I need to keep going :happy:
My advice to you is to just start - start doing something - track your food, exercise a few minutes each day. Eventually you will start to see some positive results - and I think those positive results are probably going to be what it takes to keep you motivated!!

I took a picture of myself in a bikini and taped it to the fridge everytime I go for a snack I'm so repulsed by the picture I don't want to eat.0

For me, I have to try something new or it doesn't motivate me. I try doing a different weight training program at the gym, different machines, eating different calories, new foods, etc.0

My motivation was looking in the mirror, seeing that I look obscenely obese, plus never being able to find awesome clothes that fit.0

I buy myself a new fitness tool, or something body and beauty related...today I bought a Fitbit...walked twice as much as before...motivation restored.0

Joining MFP was my biggest re-motivation. After losing 50 lbs and being on MFP over a year, I find that it's slacking again. Not totally gone, but a bit MIA. I created a group to help with that, and it is helping so far: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/6963-kimberly-s-inspiration-motivation-incentive-kimi It's open to anyone and runs much like a challenge, but without all the rules. I really like it. It's helping me a lot.0

I started to eat healthier and work out regularly back in January, but after a month of that, I fell off the wagon and stopped. I'd made some good progress too, now that I look at the photos, but the scale hadn't budged, so I assumed I hadn't made much progress because my weight was still the same. I wish I'd thought to take measurements of different parts of my body, because I'm sure it would have made a difference!
I found my motivation again this time through a combination of factors: my husband and I just visited my family back in our hometown and although we had a great time, I can't stand to look at the photos because I can't believe that obese woman is actually me; we're 41 weeks away from moving to a new state, so I want a "clean slate"; and I've been looking at the cutest clothes on Pinterest and feeling depressed over my own "fat uniform" wardrobe of big and black everything. So now I'm back on the wagon, hopefully for good this time! This time I've chosen two workout programs to follow, instead of just trying to figure it out myself (doing Ripped in 30 and Couch to 5K), I've enlisted my mom as a support person, and I've joined MFP to get some community support and accountability. Also, I took measurements this time when I started, so that I can check those if the scale doesn't budge. It's only been a week, but I've already lost 2 inches from each thigh, 2.5 inches from my bust, and an inch from my chest!0
