Exercise tips needed

Lets start off by saying I'm not lazy. I am on my feet 8 hrs a day and when I get home I just want a nap. BUT, if something needs to be done outside ( cut the grass, raking, picking up limbs, etc), I am more than willing to do that because I feel like I am accomplishing something. I live on ten acres in the country so there's always something to be done. But I am cautious as to how much this actually helps me and if I need to do more. I am always soaked in sweat and feel wore out when I finish something strenuous like cutting the grass on about five acres of land with a push mower up and down hills. I know that I will have to exercise to really shred the pounds, but I'm worried I will lose motivation and get bored.

Sounds like you have plenty of space and things to do outside to keep you busy. Make a list of outdoor projects that need done and start with those. On icky days you could do DVDs or something indoors.

No - you do not need to exercise to really shed the pounds.

    Diet is for weight/fat loss.
Exercise is for heart health and body improvement, and it may on may not cause weight loss.

You are doing great fat burning activities - and using a lot of muscle that you obviously need.

Take a reasonable deficit (2lbs if over 75lbs to lose, otherwise 1 lb weekly) and keep up that routine.

Select your activity level correctly for your typical day on avg for the week, which does NOT sound like sedentary, but Lightly or Moderately Active depending on if just standing on feet, or working too.

Lawn mowing probably earns you about 200 cal/hr extra to eat on that day you do it.

If you're already extremely physically active, you might give just changing your eating habits and throwing in a nice walk of the property (I just read your other post) or take the stairs vs elevator(if that's applicable) first and see how you feel, then there's plenty of exercises you can do from the comfort of your home, body weight exercises typically need at most a yoga mat or other soft mat.

I read in a blog once that stated it's easier to make long lasting changes if you don't group them all together, such as I started exercising first, then I cut out desserts, then I cut out white pasta, then chips etc etc as opposed to jumping in all at once. If you make something a habit then add something else it's more likely that you will continue with what you have already incorporated to your lifestyle, even if you start doing something that u end up not sticking with. instead of starting it all at the same time n getting burnt out or bored and quitting it all at the same time. I think it depends on your style, I tend to need to start slow, then I continuously build up to just under obsessive.

I'm not sure how much sense that made(I'm literally about to go pass out in bed), I hope it helped.. if you want a "pal" on here I love seeing others progress and successes and helping motivate past road bumps.

Good luck in your journey :)

Thanks for the tips/encouragement! I'm in college and I work at a fast good joint so that doesn't help anything haha. Luckily I have grown tired of fast food and have started taking my own lunch and water (I hate city water, therefore when I'm at work I drink tea or other sugary drinks). I've already lost 3 lbs since Thursday, so that is a big motivation. The calorie intake isn't a big deal to me. It's sugar. I have a huge sweet tooth so I'm trying to slowly wean myself off. I only had one glass of tea today and the rest was water which is HUGE for me. Us southerners love our tea! But I got this!!
