Setting a good example for my 18-month-old son and having the energy to keep up with him are my motivation. I work full-time, so I work out at the gym in my building on my lunch hours since my boyfriend travels frequently, and I can't work out afterwards since I have to take care of our son. I love the break in the day, and then my evenings are free to play with my son. I also like going on walks in the evening with him, and he loves to get out and about. On the weekends, running around with him in the park and chasing him give me some additional cardio.0

I have a 3.5 year old and yes it's hard. I also work 32 hrs/wk at a job where I'm awake for the day at 4am. I struggle with exhaustion on a daily basis but I almost always get my workout in!0

I get up early to work out. I also go to the gym right after work (or during lunch) before I pick them up. On the weekends, if I don't get up early, I either put them in the jogging stroller or have them ride bikes. Sometimes they run a little with me but we just started that - they are 4 and 6.
Now...if I could just get my adult children to work out...lol0 -
I have 2 girls. They are 5 and 1. It is definitely hard but I try to do my workouts in the morning or take them to the basement with me and they play while I workout.0

I have a full time job working 38+ hours a week.. I also have 3 kids between the ages of 6-17.. It is very hard to not feel guilty about taking time for yourself. I felt so bad in the beginning, but I know that it is the only thing keeping me sane right now lol... Times get nuts and occasionally I find myself trying to fit in my exercise at midnight, but if it is important to you, you will find a way to make it happen...0

I have 2 children. 18 months and 4 1/2 years. I go to the gym when my husband gets home from work. I DO have the option to take them with me, but I don't think I'd enjoy being so distracted while I'm trying to get my exercise in.0

I have a nine month old that takes up a lot of my time.. since the weather is nice right now I put him in his stroller and go out for a walk/jog with him and take our dog too.. I have bought 3lb weight to go around my ankles and I feel like that really works me out hope this helps0

It's definitely harder to find time to exercise with kids. I have 2 girls age 7 and 4, and I either get up before they do to squeeze in some exercise or try to do a workout video while they are up and all around me. They don't seem to understand "move out of the way, I am exercising" and sometimes I crash into them. Maybe they will learn someday.
I don't have the energy to work out after they go to bed so these are my choices for now. It's getting easier as they get older though.0 -
I hear you loud and clear. I have a 6 year-old son and a 10 year-old diabetic son. It's not easy. I just try my best and that's all anyone can ask for.0

hard is an understatement...but it is doable!! I have been working out at home for 5 years now...ever since my youngest was 6 months old and I became a stay-at-home mom (living on one income + no sitter = no gym).
Remember, besides the great example you set for your kids, they can keep you motivated and accountable as well. My two are constantly asking me what is "good" to eat vs. junk food and question my exercise routine (rest days I constantly get asked when I'm going to start, lol).
Just workout when it works best for you, whether it's early or broken up throughout the day, and remember that you have to take care of you in order to take care of the kiddos.

I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old. I started my weight loss journey about 18 months ago with small steps. First some walking and light exercise. Next step, incorporating a better diet - focusing more on nutrition and real food instead of restricting what I ate. I found that 100 calories of good food gave me more volume than 100 calories of "crap" and that's what I was really aiming for. I hate being hungry (aka hangry).
Some days are good, some are bad. But even after the bad days, I get myself back on track and remind myself why I started this journey.
I started by buying a treadmill to use at home. I wasn't going to allow myself any more excuses as I had in the past. We have an onsite gym at work, but I couldn't bring the kids with me to work out and it was far enough away from home I knew I wouldn't make a special commute on my days off. I work 12 hour shifts, so trying to get to the work gym before or after work was cutting into family time or some serious sleep time. So I bought a membership at a local gym that offers daycare for a small fee. I don't have any excuses why I can't go.
If it matters to you, you'll find a way. If not, you'll find an excuse.
Keep it up! If I can do it, you can too!

Definitally struggling as well. My son is 14 1/2 months old. He goes to bed at 10pm and is up by 530 (if not before). Then its cartoons and mommy gets ready for work time and gets him ready for daycare time. I think my best bet will be evenings. Buut I will surely be tired, so may only stick to working out 3x a day starting out.0

And i have three boys oldest is 8 and my twins are 3 and a half ... Feel free to add me im very encouraging to all my myfp friends ... I dont always logg my food because im always so busy but i do eat right and workout as much as i can )))0 -
Lazy pig??? Lol ... And all u ladies out there working jobs and being moms are my inspiration im going back to school in the fall so im hoping to have that motivation and to not put my fitness and health on the back burner ... !!!!!, all u ladies are AMAZINGGG ))))))))0

Hi,
I have a three year old and 9 month. I try working out in the morning while they are still sleeping. It's hard to wake up at 5 or 6am but I know I don't want to be over weight anymore. I workout for a good hour and a 1/2, i have a treadmill and bike. But if the kids wake up and they usually do, their dad will watch them. Putting TV on for my three year old and holding my 9 month old. So, try doing anything you can during nap times, early in the morning, or at bedtime. It's important for your health and every little bit helps I hope you find something that works for you.

I have an 8 month old daughter. It is tough trying go find time to workout. Then it seems once I do have time, I want to use it to just "regroup" lol. I haven't been doing so well getting my workouts in, but I plan to try and step it up0

I have a 5 year old and a 10 month old. It's hard staying motivated with kids around! They are our #1 priority (as they should be!) and it's hard for us to take the time for us as well.
In addition to the full time job of being "Mom" I also work essentially full time from home for a book publishing company (7 days week I'm checking in!) and I'm starting my own web design business - plus I'm a food "Sample Lady" at Target on some weekend days.
I wish I could just NOT work and just do the mom thing and one thing on the side that I choose and then focus on eating right and getting in exercise. I need help finding that balance.
EDIT TO ADD: On a side note, I used to do the Wii Fit every night after the kids went to bed. That's harder in the summer because my 5 yo fights me because "It's still sunny time!" and "You need to lay with me!!!" Plus I started falling behind on work Again, need to find that balance!!!0
