Hello there!
I've been using MFP on my phone sporadically for a couple of weeks now, but I'm now determined to be 100% committed to my weight loss!
I trained all my life as a dancer and was always thin (if not a little underweight), but since retraining as an actress and working professionally in childrens theatre the pounds have slowly piled on. I know exactly why this happened...I continued to eat as I had when I was dancing but didn't do nearly a fraction of the exercise...recipe for disaster.
However, I've been somewhat in denial about my weight gain. Call it body dysmorphia or just a refusal to accept facts but for ages when I looked in the mirror I didn't see a difference. Even though my clothes didn't fit, and my mother was making increasingly less subtle comments...I just didn't 'see' that I was getting bigger.
But now something must be done. I have a fairly active job (bouncing around stage daily in a very dynamic childrens show) but I think my body is obviously adjusted to excercise due to my dance training (up to 8 hours of classes a day plus gym trips) and in order to loose weight I'm going to have to be strict.
So...this is the start of an adventure. It's going to be a hard slog...I'm going to be grumpy and tired and need a lot of support. But hopefully I'll get there and maybe I feel confident enough to look at dancing jobs again.
Fingers crossed. If anyone has some top tips for motivation, great diet recipies or knows of some good exercise plans that I can fit into a busy working day then please let me know!
Wish me luck...and good luck to all you other MFP users out there.
