Form check videos
I thought it might be nice to collect these in one place, so they are easier to refer back to than disappearing down the list...

Any advice?
Hi everyone! I'm two weeks into Stronglifts and I really like it. I started really low on the weights, and now I'm finally up to 45+ on squats and DL, still using dumbells around 30-35lbs for all others. Each day has been sufficiently challenging and enjoyable. Yesterday was the first day that I felt really bad about the…

15 pounds to lose
Hi ladies I just had my 4th child, my daughter is 2 and half months old. I went from 174 to 139 already and want to get to be 125 asap then 118-120 by summer. I done this twice before losing 45 pounds in 3.5 months. I just don't have the time to even eat anymore lol. I joined the gym and don't have much time to spend there…

Starting SL 5x5 tonight - have questions
HI Ladies! I will be starting SL 5x5 tonight after work. My husband is going to show me how to do it. I can't figure out how many calories to eat along with protein. I am 50 years old and 5'2". I weight174 and have lost 5 lbs the last 5 weeks eating 1300 calories per day while doing cardio 2-3 days per week and nautilus…

Newbie Lifter
Hi ladies! I'm new to this group as well as lifting in general. I just started StrongLifts 5x5 yesterday and I'm so excited already! The biggest issue I've come across so far is that I have very limited flexion in my ankles so I can't get passed a chair height position when I squat. This has always been an issue for me,…

Would LOVE your advice...struggling
I know I’m supposed to ignore the scale for the most part, however I haven’t and this is bugging me. I first started Stronglifts and eating TDEE – 15% on January 3 of this year. I pretty quickly went down 6 lbs. (I say “first started” but I’ve done this before but took a LONG break over the holidays and gained some…

Moderation announcement
Hi SL friends. I've been in this group since the wayyyyyyyyyy back of Dec 2012. I requested moderation privileges from one of my fellow strong ladies since she hasn't had time to update stickies and whatnot. I've consolidated some of the stickies. There are links to the form check and progress stickies which in the…

Gym Etiquette and Sharing Equipment
Please a little advice…I used to workout at home, and last month for a change joined a local gym. So I’m not familiar with gym etiquette, sharing equipment, etc. What to do when you arrive and the squat rack is being used, it seems that there are about 4 people who use it in the morning. Monday, the squat rack wasn’t…

When did you move on from SL 5x5?
Hey ladies, as the title states, I'm wondering how long people stay with SL 5x5, and how you knew when it was time to do something else? I'm currently squatting and deadlifting 68-71% of my body weight and my OHP hasn't moved up since week 2. I stayed at the same weight for squats for all 3 workouts this week and hitting 5…

Join Me in 20 Weeks of Strength Building
Looking for a few motivated women to join me in a more focused group within this already amazing group. I’ve done this before and had such great success but lost my way with 3 vacations this years and other major life changes … but of course they are all just excuses. Regardless, I need a restart. This whole group is…

pullup progression 'challenge' - anyone else?
i'd love to have buddies for this. i'm going to try again with the pullup progression my trainer gives his new folks (got inspired by him having an actual new folk in our group on friday). i always start this, lose track and fall off the wagon again, so i'm making this thread entirely to keep myself accountable. so how it…

Postnatal
Hello Im looking to get into lifting again (I made a start before) and I am 4 months postnatal now. Still pretty weak in the core after another caesarean but I can stand up without turning to the side now ;-) If I started with bodyweight exercises, what do you think the signs would be that I could start with the bar? Also,…

New to 5x5
Hey ladies! I am looking to get started on 5x5. I have a few questions. Ive been lifting for about 4 months without a program, should I still start on the light weights? Does anybody do cardio/abs while doing this lifting program? Does anybody incorporate other lifts into worksouts A and B?

Bench Press Alternative
Is there any good alternative I can do for bench press while I wait to get the money for an actual weight bench? I can't afford to go to the gym or buy anything extra right now, and that's the only exercise I can't figure out a work around for at the moment. I don't have any chairs, benches, tables, anything that would…

Does SL 5x5 sync with MFP?
If not, is it necessary for me to input my strength training, calorie-wise? Or is it just another way to keep track of my lifting progress? I notice my protein requirements jump when I log cardio, but nothing when I log strength.

Row - which sort?
A few weeks into SL and I have been watching Mehdi's videos for form, but scrolling through the threads here and in the main fitness forum I see reference to bent over rows in place of the Pendlay row it seems SL uses? Discussions seem to indicate the debt over as better for all over back strength - is that why some swap…

Popping knee and an ache in the back
Hello friends :) I have been stop-and-go with lifting for a while, mostly due to random injuries and sometimes I'm just lazy about it. I've recently decided that twice a week will have to be ok for me, because I'm just not sleeping well enough to commit to more early mornings than that. I'm ok with this. My question is…

Edit lifting weight in SL 5x5 app
Second day for me. I had poor form in my OH press due to a strength imbalance and saw that I was seriously compensating, so I reduced the weight on the bar by 5kg. How can I change the weight in the SL 5x5 app to reflect what I'm actually lifting?

Just completed 3 weeks
Loving SL5x5, progressing nicely I think. I'm 52 years old and I've never lifted let alone go in the "man area". It was so intimidating but I did my research before going in and just did it. I'm loving reading/watching anything fitness related. It's all I think about lol. I have a lot of weight to lose still. It seems so…

Lifting etiquette
Hi all, I'm preparing to start Stronglifts 5x5 at my local gym. I've done at home body weight and light (10-15 lb) dumbbell work at home, but I'm really looking forward to lifting heavy. I've seen a number of threads on MFP poking fun at or complaining bitterly about people doing rude/offensive/clueless things in the…

What to do when the squat rack is busy?
I have been fairly lucky in going to the gym when it is relatively quiet and don't have to wait for the squat rack, but since today is a holiday and the gym may/may not be full- I was just curious what workouts do you guys do if the squat rack & or bench (with the rack) is busy/unavailable?

Help please!
Iam on week 6 of stronglifts, 5'2 my starting weight was 124lbs, my goal was to gain strength lose fat and hopefully gain some newbie muscles! I knew getting results was not going to be easy hence my goals maybe mutually exclusive as some would say, BUT I didn't know i'll end up 8 pounds heavier!! On the first 2 weeks i…

Ok, so I'm somewhat back to normal so...
I'm rejoining the ranks once again. My neck sprain and trap strain are all better and I started my lifts again last week. Being off for a month meant a 50% deload, which in many of the lifts meant 'bar weight' only...or very close. I'm moving along, though. The nice thing about the re-start is how quickly the sessions go…

Hi there! Quick question...
New to the group and I've been at SL for about 6 weeks. I've seen some great improvements. I do have a question however, please forgive me if it has already been answered. What do you ladies do if your gym doesn't have fractional plates? The smallest my gym has is 2.5lbs. I've tried increasing the weight by 5 and doing 4X5…

Maintainance or deficit?
Hey! So these are my stats: height - 4ft 11, weight - 120lbs, BMI about 24, TDEE 1,600, strength train 4x a week, 1x hour of dance a week, walk 12,000 steps a day on average. In order to lose fat and gain muscle with StrongLifts should I be eating at maintainance, deficit or actually eating extra calories? I just started…
