Don't wanna do this
Hello, my Dr. is pushing for me to have the lap band surgery b/c of HBP, prediabetes and high triglycerides. While I agree losing weight will certainly help lower blood pressure and at least stave off diabetes for a while, the surgery is not a guarantee I'll even lose more weight than I already am. I'm frightened to death…

motivation
So tomorrow is my surgery, and to get myself motivated I dug around in the back of my closet looking for something too small. I found an old pair of jeans that looked brand new that somehow had not been sent to goodwill. I recalled putting them on a couple of years ago and not getting them over my thighs, I'm not sure why…

It's Been a Year
Tomorrow is my one year follow-up from having my lap band surgery. Since then, I've lost about 66 pounds, 4 dress sizes and gained a whole new level of confidence. A little nervous about going in since I haven't done as well as I'd wanted but...overall, I feel really good :)

Happy with my results
Yesterday I had 9 month re-check. I'm down 106lbs from my top weight. My BMI has gone from 42% to 24%...24% is no longer obese...I AM NORMAL!!! My body fat is higher than I want. I'm trying to build more lean muscle and get it down at least another 10%. Overall, very happy with the results and very happy that I had gastric…

Contemplating a water aerobics class
I found out the YMCA is offering a water aerobics class. I love swimming, but I'm a little hesitant. I'm very large, and I'm afraid of looking like a fool. Has anyone taken a class, and how did you feel about it? My husband says not to worry about what other people think, but that's easier said than done.

Long Term Post-Op - Vitamins?
For those of you who are long term post-ops (more than two years), do you still take your vitamins? If so, are you still taking your bariatric vitamins or do you just take regular multi-vitamins? All input welcome! :flowerforyou: Thanks! Stef

Is there something wrong with me?
I had band with plication on April 9th. Thus far, I have lost 20 pounds (total) that's including 2 weeks on a liquid diet. Is this average? I feel like it's really slow? I don't go for my band adjustment until 5/15, but right now I feel like I can eat more than I should be able to. I am consuming 1100 or so cals a day. I'm…

New Member to Group
Hi all! I'm Pancua and underwent the Lapband surgery in May of 2005. When I got on the table, I was 412 pounds. As of today, I weigh in at 216 pounds. My goal is 200 pounds so I am very excited to be so close to my goal. I struggled quite a bit with my adjustments for the first 3 years mostly because of my loss of…

Every few days of so it seems I crave carbs, crunchy carbs, a few days back I had a few cheetos at work, they sit well with me, but they are not healthy....so my question is this: 1. do any of you order from that bariatric advantage catalog, if so what and did you like what you got, was it worth the price. 2. are there any…

Getting frustrated with my numbers.
I had the RNY April 11th 2012. I'm almost 4 weeks out. I went from 248-229 ( 19 pounds) 10 pounds the first week, 6 pounds the 2nd week and 4 pounds the 3rd week. The losses need to go up..not down and it''s getting me worried.

Hello!
Hello I'm a newbie... and thrilled to find this program. I had Roux-n-Y Gastric Bypass On January 5, 2012. I feel great and had a textbook surgery and recovery. You'll find that I will contribute to the discussions, mostly because i'm opinionated, (LOL) but please know, I offer all in a spirit of love and support. I'm in…

WLS bias/hate on MFP
I'm seeing quite a bit of bias against anyone that has gone the WLS route by other overweight/obese people here in forums. It ranges from the passive-aggressive "I wouldn't THINK of having surgery, I don't want to go the easy way" to the out and out "anyone that has WLS is lazy and will just gain it all back because they…

Surgery & Skin (Oh and Hello!)
Hi everyone, This is my first topic post. I figured since I was lucky enough to find this group on here that I should throw out the question that's always in the back of my mind. First and quick background. At 21 I was 6'7 and weighed 450lbs. After the surgery I dropped over 220lbs and then settled back at a comfortable…

Finally, there are others like me!
You have no idea how excited I am to find you guys!!! :) A little about me, I'm 27/f 5'8. I had gastric bypass surgery (Roux-en-y) on 12/14/04 at the ripe young age of 19. I weighed 350 that morning. Due to insurance reasons I was required to get the procedure with an open incision, instead of laproscopically. So I have a…

I love pepitas!
So I'm wondering... After 7 1/2 years I notice that the snacks I reach for are usually protein rich, even when I'm not trying.. I eat seeds and nuts frequently.. almonds and pepitas most often.. pumpkin seeds (shells and all.. YUM!) and I wasn't a fan pre-op. What are your favorite healthy snacks? Do you also still go…

New here, and happy I found this group!
Hi all, I am a 33 yr old mother to 6 rambunctious children. I just had Gastric Bypass on March 14th and am feeling great! With only 6 weeks out I have lost 48lbs!!! My decision for this was my doctor giving me 2 yrs to live because of my heart. I have always been overweight and it never slowed me down. I could do things…

Starting over
I had LapBand surgery two years ago. I lost 50 pounds right off the bat, but then we went on vacation and I started having junk food again. Ever since I've maintained my weight but haven't been able to lose anything. I'm carb addicted. So I'm starting again. I'm finding that writing down everything I'm going to eat for the…

Taking Before Photos
Ok, I just went and took my before photos. OMG, how aweful., Looking at them are sooooo depressing. This is not even at my heavist. I think I have lost about 15 pounds since my heaviest. How do you all get through the thoughts that you can ever get to your goal weight? I just can't see myself ever being thinner again. I…
