I know that feeling! A couple times I've told my trainer, when he asks how I feel since last workout "I can't tell if I'm just sore, or I'm getting sick" - I always feel better the next day.

You might look into Whole30.com and try that for 30 days and see how you do, if you are interested in the experiment. Once you get past the 30 days, you can introduce some foods back into your diet (like some dairy). I would choose most fruit over most non-fruit sweets, except for the fruit I'm allergic to which is about half of fruit. I would choose strawberry cake or dark chocolate or pumpkin pie over any fruit except berries, lol.
