I normally go on a few overseas trips a year, and while I do log all my calories while abroad, and generally, without exception, go over my macros, I find that my weight stabilises eventually. When I travel I do a LOT of walking - more so than I do while at home.. I make a point of finding gyms close to where I am, and…

Your inability to lose weight is due to eating too much.. Potassium doesn't play a role in this.

It's cool bro, I'm bulking.

I don't know where you are, or whether it's accessible to you, but I buy Chobani greek yogurt. The plain one, 0% fat. 0 fats, 10 carbs and 10 proteins per 100 grams of yogurt.

depends on what you buy, really. if you eat a couple of packs of flour and a tub of butter a day you'll get pretty huge, i imagine..

Start now. The more you delay it, the longer it'll take to achieve your goals.

before cooking. 100 grams of uncooked lentils will weigh a lot more when cooked. the weight of cooked food will depend on how it's cooked, and how long it's cooked for.

i don't do cardio at the moment, but when i'm losing weight, i usually do things like spin classes.. sometimes i venture into other group fitness classes .. more often than not, i do a 30 minute HIIT session, or sprint work on the treadmill (ie, run as fast as you can for 30 seconds, jog for 30 seconds, repeat for 30…

wait, what?? Pizzas are meant to be shared??! I normally get a whole pizza as an appetizer!

sounds like a serious hit of a beta alanine based pre-workout! nice!!

I'm a scientist by day, and a skydiving instructor by .. weekends..

if you can't afford food, why are you buying protein shakes?? eat a tin of tuna. Much cheaper, less calories, similar proteins. if you're stressing about gaining weight, just eat less!
-
The other day I had 1420 calories for breakfast.... I felt so happy.
-
you're eating too much.

Strength training is very personal. How many calories you burn will depend on so many variables (down to how much you weigh on that particular day, how much rest you take between sets, etc..) Cardio is similarly subjective, and I dare to say that the calories this app says you've 'burned' during any given session could be…

depends on what i'm doing. When I try to lose weight, then yes - I meticulously log everything. Spices, vegetables, even my pre/intra workout, and my sugar-free energy drink. If I eat out, I overestimate macros and portion sizes, and if I am eating at a restaurant, I add at least 10ml of oil to my logged calories, just in…

Lots of crunches and planks, apparently.

I normally eat prior to working out as well. Normally a bowl of oats, a banana and a protein shake, depending on what the workout is. If I'm going for a massive PR, a heavy squat or deadlift, I will often treat myself and have 3 or 4 donuts .. my mind associates donuts and the upcoming heavy lift and gets me ready.. All…

in case nobody has said this: weigh it raw. the weight of the cooked pasta will depend on how long you cook it for, so the final measurement will always be subjective. weigh it raw, then cook to your heart's content.

mm .. grab a barbell and do some shrugs - if you use a full range of motion you should see what i mean.. :P

I know exactly what you mean.. Particularly when I'm doing barbell shrugs.....

Why do your calories vary from day to day? Naturally if you're going to introduce something as taxing and draining as a 5x5 workout routine (which I highly recommend - it's a fantastic lifting program), your body is going to need a lot more energy as it's using up a lot more energy both while at the gym and during the rest…
-
But seriously.. Keep doing your crunches. .... I watched American Psycho the other day and apparently he does 1000 every morning. Maybe once you get to those numbers you can look like Christian Bale.
-
Okay okay maybe I wasn't taking this thread too seriously. Fwiw, here is my ab routine, which I do 2/3 times a week (when I can be bothered. Frankly I find ab workouts a bit boring..) Exercise 1: hanging knee raises Exercise 2: exercise ball crunches Exercise 3: bicycle curls Exercise 4: mountain climbers Superset all 4 to…

Find out what your 1 rep max is here: http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/other7.htm When you're lifting, start with the bar, and start adding plates until the weight becomes challenging. You should be able to get your 5x5 without failure.
-
As suggested, yes. You can definitely do this on your own. I spent about 4 years working out on my own. When doing 5x5, your lifts shouldn't be over 75-80% of your maximum capacity, so you should be able to do this comfortably.
