  • I only skimmed the OP but I'd look at whey her he calls himself a dietician or he's a registered dietician. A registered dietician would give you sound advice. Look up his name, otherwise he might be another quack "nutritionist"
  • I don't see a reason with MFP. I used to use Excel to track my Wendler stats because that required percentages but that's about it
  • In skimming, I saw a post somewhere in here where someone talked about pretty much just drinking diet soda. Not to mention, I have known a number of people, generally from certain geographic regions who drink pretty much nothing but soda/diet soda. And seeing posts where people drink 8 cans of soda a day..so unlikely that…
  • I'm not talking about people having the occasional soda in a day. I'm talking about people who pretty much get all of their hydration in the day from soda. Like what, you come in the house sweating on a hot day and chug a soda? Not to mention the dehydrating effect of caffeine in many sodas. Would give me a bad headache as…
  • Easy to go into the 4000s if you eat in abundance and drink alcohol.
  • It baffles me that some of you can drink soda all day (diet or not), consume little to no water, and not feel like total *kitten*... Maybe it's because I live in an arid climate in the Southwest, but I don't get how you don't feel lethargic, dried out, overheated, and irritable living that way, not to mention the stomach…
  • Easiest way to avoid it is distraction. When you're busy at work you probably don't even have time to think about food.
  • Don't forget on your military diet to chug a whole canteen of water before bed...for no other reason than someone told you to because...hydration...or something.
  • You don't gain 3 lbs in a day nor do you lose 3 lbs in a day. When the scale shows you up 5 lbs don't freak. It'll level back off by next week at your next weigh in
  • My wife has it and has done her homrwork. I'll see if I can get her to come to this thread.
  • The modern American effect. Nothing is my fault, I'm a special snowflake, and I'm amazing no matter what. People lack self control and are in severe denial because it would mean having to face that they are flawed and aren't perfect.
  • Less fat = colder easier (not wearing a tshirt in the snow like heavier people) and you float less easily. That's the price to not being overweight
  • Eat less. If you aren't even willing to put in the effort of giving any information or what you know thus far (when MFP does a lot of it for you), you probably aren't going to put in the effort required after listenimg to sound advice here.
  • I don't think I've ever done 20k steps and I've walked all over Golden Gate Park for a whole day. 2400 is low to be honest. Those days it says I'm doing close to 3k cals. You grearly underestimate the work your body is putting in. Most of the calories burned in a day are from regular activiry, not exercising. If you just…
  • Your "bottom" healthy range is 112 and you're well with in average weight. Based on your picture, if you arent satisfied then my guess is you are "skinny fat". Maybe do maintenance for a month, then cut to 130 and do lifting.
  • Weigh daily in the morning but only if you can understand and accept one thing: you didn't lose 3 lbs in one day it's water. You didn't gain 3 lbs in a day it's water. It just gives a course-tuned indicator of how you're doing. Only track one of the weigh ins a week on the same day and same ish time i.e. Tuesdays at 7 am…
  • Person above brought up a good point. You could just eat a bottle of mustard. I bet that'd net to 0 calories. Delicious.
  • How about celery soaked in ipecac and wrapped in tape worms? That should do the trick.
  • Skinny fat is the correct verdict. With the proper training you'll probably look 10 lbs slimmer than now and be at 130 lb.
  • Unless you're auditioning for a remake of The Machinist, eat something.
  • An actual military diet is horrible chow hall food, jalapeño cheese spread, ordering dominos and chinese, and a 30 pack of Keystone Light. Good luck with that.
  • When you forsake your favorite foods in the name of dieting you are setting yourself up for failure. Eat a salad, drink water, eat in moderation. Sushi is delicious.
  • Those are very rough estimates they use to factor into the calorie formula and can't be fine tuned unfortunately. The answer is not figuring out your exact steps or minutes of Zumba, it's the scale. If you are calculating food correctly then after a week or two if you're losing half a pound and your goal is a pound, your…
  • Directly telling someone that isn't a close friend or family that they're obese and (adding on) could be pretty if they lost weight is a f***ed up thing to do. I mean do people generally give a look to their friend or spouse when someone enormous comes lumbering down an aisle? Sure, but nothing to make the person aware of…
  • Just looked this up and it's typical horse crap to prey on people. Seeing pictures of pretty thin people saying they lost 10 lbs? In 21 days? That's over 3 lbs a week. Do it if it's nutritious but do not expect their bogus promises.
  • Keep it all out of your house. See a doctor about the possibility of getting on meds. Realize that some meds like paxil can cause weight loss.
  • It inadvertently helps with weight loss by being zero calories, being in water (which is filling), and having caffeine to stave hunger. The only thing it's going to do is maybe help you not eat as much
  • Several things. 1200 is generally low unless you are short. Aim for 1 lb a week if you really want to lose the weight. That's as aggressive as you want to get unless you're really obese. You don't have to lose just .5 lb, that's silly. Go to bed and get rest. It prevents binging and helps regulate hormones for weight loss.…
