My one can be hit and miss , have you set up Bluetooth correctly with garmin connect ? Can you see the steps , if so you then need to give permission to sync between MFP and garmin connect , this will require you to put your garmin connect login details into MFP.

Started cycling , got hooked after a month and since then I have dropped 50lbs and decreasing

Just hit 55 was 180lbs. Just over 6 months later I'm 140lbs , all down to diet and exercise ( cycling mainly ) those hills I used to puff and pant getting up I hardly notice ! , now my biggest problem is keep the weight up at 140lbs

It really depends on your activity type , I'm a big cyclist now and I find the Apple Watch hopeless , I ended up with the garmin vivosmart something to consider if your doing multi activities
