  • My calorie goal is about 2900 and some change a day. I'm usually 3-400 below that. I'm also below my fat intake and sugar intake everyday as well. I record nearly everything I eat. Forget then 'nearly everything' and record everything. You may be surprised.
  • I use the Jawbone Up2 and love it. It tracks steps, food (by syncing to MFP), other workouts and sleep plus offers daily motivational tips. I was recommended this by my coach from the gym, after trying to figure out which Fitbit to get, and I wouldn't swap it now.
  • Awesome work, well done! I completed c25k and ran a couple of 5k's last year. Unfortunately I now have an ankle injury so am confined to walking right now but am looking forward to getting out running again.

  • I think it is different for everyone, so you need to work out what suits you best. If you diet best by being quite controlled and restrictive all week and then allow yourself a cheat day then fine, so long as the cheat day isn't so crazy that you blow your calorie deficit for the entire week and therefore limit your…
  • Hi Savanna, I'm Jane. Please feel free to addme if you would like a friend from the UK. My second time around on here....first time I lost 52 pounds then gained back 22 last year, so here I am again. My ultimate goal is to get to around 160 pounds so I have another 60-ish to go. Let's do this together!
  • I've been doing this for a while now and am happy to help where I can. Drop me a friend request if you want to share diaries or encouragement
  • Yep this happens to me whenever I start all over again, keep going and ypu will see result soon. Just as an example, my weight stayed the same all last week but by this morning I had dropped 3 pounds and that was on 1900 cals per day. If you are eating consistently within your goals and doing some activity then it HAS to…
  • I'm OK with peanut butter but cannot have Nutella in the house unless its a special occasion and I have a free pass ha ha.
  • I would definitely recommend more calories, espeically if you are weight training. I am a 5' 6" female and last week lost 3lb eating 1900 per day, and training 4 days per week a mixture of cardio and light strength/mobility training (a wrist injury means I can't lift heavy for a while).
  • I had a dish of karalan spiced fish curry with wild rice & spinach, a danio bluberry yogurt and a pear. Yum.
  • I also lost 6lb over the holidays and I figured out that it was becuase I was actually eating less meals. So I would sleep in and then do some exercise, then get round to having brunch and then just have dinner later, so I was cutting my 2 meals down to 3 and therefore saving calories. I also think it was because I am…
  • 100lb is my ultimate goal too. Lost 55 and then my hiatus lasted a bit too long and I gained 22lb of it back. Here to start again and I'm super motivated. Please feel free to add me. Lets do this thing ladies!
  • Oh my word, what an amazing achievement. You're an inspiration and a fighter. In awe.
  • I have taken them for around 6 months now ad in that time have lost around 40 lbs and 16 inches however I do eat well and exercise 4-6 times per week, so it's difficult to gauge their effectiveness alone. I take them more for their antioxidant properties along with a multivitamin, however I have read that rather than be a…
  • Well done, you look fantastic and so healthy & happy which is the main thing. I totally get where you're coming from as I suffered from anxiety and turned to food as my comfort, I could literally feel food pushing the anxiety back down into my stomach! I sought counselling for what I described as my 'food monster' and it…
  • So a seperated person isn't allowed to enter into a new relationship until the ink is dry on the divorce, and must surely still have feelings for their spouse? WRONG!! I am seperated and definitely do not consider myself 'still married' and neither does my (technically still) husband, otherwise he wouldn't be living with…
  • Hi, I'm from Durham and always happy to have more MFP friends. Feel free to ask me anything; I'm no expert but happy to offer advice on what works for me :)
  • You need to find what works for you and your lifestyle, if evening exercise if what works for you then that's when you should do it. It is still benefitting you no matter what time of day you do it. I work full time and have a 3-year old daughter so I have to wait until she goes to bed most days so I can workout, which…
  • Thanks. It's not so much the running I have a problem with (although I know it won't be easy getting up to 10k stamina) what I'm more concerned about is the general strength and endurance required for the 30 obstacles designed by Special Forces!!
  • ^^^ This. I also used the Zen Labs app for c25k and it is really easy to use and you can just easily scroll back or forth so skip back or ahead.

  • Yay, me too! Although I'd really like 28lb by then.
  • I personally think that completely 'giving up' a food is a recipe for disaster and is in the same vain is a temporary 'diet'. Granted, becuase I am much more focussed on nutrition now I hardly eat white bread, pasta or rice, I very rarely have fizzy drinks and I don't eat much of what is generally considered fast or junk…
  • Laughing my *kitten* off here. There are very often completely ridculous posts of MFP but aedrena has just surpassed the lot!
  • Hello, welcome along and well dont for trying to improve things for yourself :). This is the exact type of question that divides people on MFP unfortunately. There are 2 schoold of thought - those who happily eat 1200 or under and those who believe 1200 calories is too low for most people especially when exercising. I can…
  • I use both and only use the almond milk in my protein shakes mainly because I still want some of the milk-like taste/texture but as I have 2 shakes per day sometimes, the unswettened one comes in at only a quarter of the calories of semi skimmed cows milk. I still use cows milk in my oats, tea/coffee etc.
  • I had previously lost 50lb and then regained it all, and seeing the scales hit the original number, which had been my heaviest ever, was the catalyst. However a lot of other things contributed; i'd always been an emotional eater but had sought counselling to tackle food as a coping mechanism; my father had a stroke which…
  • I'm 5' 6" but with a larger build and an hourglass shape (e.g. I have boobs & backside and no intention of wanting to be so skinny that I lose them all!!). I was 256 when I started with no idea where I wanted to be as a target weight. I did the Dr Dukan 'true weight' test and it said 168 is my true weight. That sounds a…
  • I think so, definitely. It's so strange to go from perceiving yourself as a 'big' person and everything that goes with it to seeing yourself as you really are now. I still have a way to go, but I am now at the point of people really noticing a difference (and someone actually didn't recognise me in the store the other…
  • I am so happy that I have finally, after many years, stopped the extremely low fat diets and learned about nutrition, and realised that I can eat peanut and other nut butters as part of a healthy plan. I have either peanut, cashew or almond buetter around 3 times per week, often with an apple as a post-workout snack.…
