  • Name : Michele Age : 39 Height : 5 '5 Your current weight ; 148 Your goal weight : 130-132 I had surgery last year and put on some weight. I am struggling a bit. I am physically active. My problem: I like food. I need to curb a few things ~ like my love of wine and children's cereal. One day at a time I guess :)
  • Protein shake - 1 scoop of ON chocolate powder with 8 oz of almond milk & 1/2 cup non-fat Chobani yogurt; 2 slices of Sara Lee multigrain bread with sunflower butter or 2 eggs with a sprinkle of cheese and slice of toast.
  • Full-time working mother to an 8 and almost 5 year old. I will also turn 40 this year. Last year I had a multilevel cervical spinal fusion and gained almost 20 lbs. It's time to take it off and to stay healthy.
  • I had a multilevel spinal fusion almost 10 months ago. For the first 6 months, I only walked. After that, I added in the elliptical and arc trainer. At about 7 months, I added back low weight kettlebells. I'm up to 25lb bells now for certain moves but usually use the 18lb bell for most exercises. I used to be a runner too.…
  • 25 minutes of LB's Ultimate Body Sculpt & Conditioning and 20 minutes on tm @ 6.4mph.
  • I'm in too! Just did a kb workout last night. I will only be able to use my 25lb bell as I had a multi-level cervical spinal fusion earlier this year.
  • Yesterday - 45 minute kettlebell dvd (Kettlebell Body) using my 15, 18 and 25lb bells. Today - no workout Tomorrow - 38 minute kb dvd (Kettlebell Lightning) using 15 & 18lb bells primarily and some 25 lb bell exercises.
  • I have her Ultimate Sculpting & Conditioning Volumes 1 and 2, Kettlebell Lightning and Kettlebell Body. I love all of them but they are a bit pricey. Volume 1 is a great place to start. I never used kettlebells previous to her dvd's and I quickly progressed to Volume 2. I don't have Volume 3 - that is mostly using double…
  • I started with a 10 lb bell - I had never used weights at all prior to this. I quickly moved to a 15, 18 and then 25 lb bell. I had a spine surgery this year so now I'm rehabbing and am back to 10, 15 and 18 lb bells. Good luck. I'm sure that you will see you will progress to heavier bells as you feel more comfortable with…
  • Thanks for the great ideas! @MB_Positif ~ hope you have healed & feel better. I love hearing positive stories about pushing through to stay healthy. I'll check out the suspension trainer for sure and with time hopefully get some other equipment. @wmartin852 ~ I love turkish get-ups but am only currently using 15 lb bell…
  • Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to check it out.
  • Thanks for this post! I have been wondering the same thing. The closest gym to me is a half hour away and with working full-time, having two school aged children with extracurricular activities and a husband that works out of town, getting to the gym is too difficult at this point. I also have another limitation. I had a…
  • I love wine! That being said, I used to have a glass or 2 every evening. It really is empty calories so now I save it for weekends. I log it and try to work it in to my calories for the day. As everyone said before, everything is good in moderation.
  • We will be in Jamaica. I will probably eat too much but I'm not too worried about it. It's one day....as long as I keep it to just one day.
  • Age: 39; Currently 145 Goal: 132 - 135; Getting lean Restarted using kettlebells after a multi-level cervical spinal fusion earlier this year. I will never be able to lift heavy but am hoping I will see some results with the weights I am using. Also hoping to increase my running distance again once my fusion becomes solid…
  • Lifting heavy may be all well & good for most people but what about people with medical issues? I had a multi-level cervical spinal fusion a few months ago and will never be able to lift heavy ever again in my future. I will have to stick to light weights and high repetition. Does that mean I can't or won't ever be lean?
  • I do incline intervals.Due to a recent surgery, I've only been cleared to walk, so I try to make the best of it. I wear a HRM and I can burn anywhere between 450-540 calories during a 45 minute walk on the treadmill. I change it up but somehow keep coming back to this one - I set the incline at 6 with a speed of 4.5 for 15…
  • I guess I'll always be a pear...Due to a multilevel cervical spinal surgery, I will never be able to lift more than 20-30 lbs again. Does anyone have suggestions for a person that can't lift heavy?
  • That sounds pretty high to me. I usually walk on the treadmill for 45 minutes at inclines ranging from 2-8 and a pace between 4.5 & 5 mph and I burn anywhere between 465-540 max (I have the Polar FT7). Have you entered all of your information? What pace did you enter on MFP? Hopefully someone here can give you a more…
  • I am also in PT right now. I'm 4 months out from having a multilevel cervical spinal fusion (C4-C7). I haven't logged my PT because I really only do some neck, shoulder and posture exercises. The only thing I might do that could burn a few calories is the arm bike. Do you know what types of exercises you'll be doing at PT?…
  • This place sounds perfect for me at this stage in my life. I'm 4 months out from a multilevel cervical spinal fusion and have been told that I can't lift over 20 lbs & nothing that will strain my neck, I can't run (at the present time) and was also told no aerobic classes yet but I can use cardio equipment. What type of…

  • Bumping again. Someone else on here surely has dealt with this?!?!
  • I plan on following the doctor's orders for sure. I don't have any desire to do this again! I was just hoping to hear others' experience with this surgery because as I understand it, it is quite common though finding positive info online has been tough so far.
  • Bumping. Anyone?
  • Thank you ladies! You are so accountable for your actions and now it is time for me too. I am currently 5'6' and 143. I have been having problems with degenerative disc issues lately but that is no excuse. My goal is to lose 13 lbs. I want to lose 1 lb per week and increase my strength. I love running and cardio but…
  • I would love to join as well!
  • I don't have any gyms where I live. The closest one is a half hour away. I work from 8-5 or 6, have to pick kids up, get dinner ready, do homework, baths, sometimes extracurricular activities for my son (soccer & boy scouts). My husband works an hour away and is on call every other evening and works every other weekend.…
  • My kettlebells and also my running shoes. Everything else is bells & whistles.
