  • It's very unfortunate! There are a couple of towns near me that no longer have a single dojo or even MMA/Boxing studio. No martial arts whatsoever. I hope that, as things loosen up, someone might step in to fill that void.
  • I lost 25 pounds before anyone commented, but on the other hand I do (and have always) wear baggy clothes, but I ran into someone I had worked with until 6 months earlier and they noticed right away. Now I get nothing at work except jokes about how I'm wasting away. Which is slightly annoying as I still have 30 more pounds…
  • I'm pretty sad that this group turns out to be so dead. Anyone know of any active Martial Arts groups?
  • Hi everyone, I just joined this group. I've been using the site on/off for over 10 years now. I did TKD as a teenager and got up to Green belt before stopping with an injury. Last March I started Goju Ryu Karate as not pursuing a black belt was one of my regrets in life, plus I want my kids to be able to defend themselves…
  • FYI, Dumbbells should be anywhere from $1 to $2 per pound, depending on if they are coated or not. 4lb weights are better than no weights, but you'll likely outgrow them extremely quickly on virtually every exercise even on very high numbers of reps (20+) Use them for now, but keep an eye out on Kijiji for a used dumbbell…
  • Shadow-boxing works for some people.
  • Rachel finishes with a BMI of 18.0 and the largest ever percentage weight loss on the show. It's well-known that contestants do extreme things in the week before the finale - you can look up interviews with past winners especially the guy from I think Season 2 who probably almost died after the finale - it's very gross and…
  • I usually eat a granola bar just to make sure I have enough energy to keep going, but full breakfast waits till after.
  • Well you're doing better than me :)
  • Ditto the C25K routine, and it really only takes just over 2 months to get you running 5Ks, which will leave several months for you to improve your times.
  • You probably burned another 600 calories ish (75 per hour I've read somewhere) while sleeping
  • My wife logs ahead. I log everything at the end of the day. Guess who's doing better?
  • wow, your weight is on that? I should look mine up :) P.S. Congrats!
  • I'm in! I was going to start this again after I finished P90X but this will only be a two week overlap and the first two weeks aren't bad. I got halfway through the program last summer before I hurt my (already bad) knee playing tennis. It works really well!
  • I ate 3600ish calories today... 3490 in MFP plus there are a couple little candies I ate that I wasn't sure how to enter them. Even with my workout that put me over by about 1500. Yikes!
  • I'm on Week 11. I started on Lean but decided I needed at least a little bit of muscle. So I did doubles for phase 2 In phase 3 I don't have as much time so I had to drop the extra cardios, so I'm doing classic now. How's that for messed up? Hehe. Overall, I've lost 14 pounds and a ton of inches, most dramatically in my…
  • It's definitely worth it. For cardio you can make sure you stay "in the zone" and for exercising in general it gives you a clear idea of how many exercise calories to eat on here.
  • I got to the end of week 5 - it really works! Then I hurt my knee playing tennis. Oops. I was going to do it again this year but it's still really cold plus they've ripped out the path for replacement and they're taking their time :( So hopefully in a month or two I can try it again.
  • All the research I have done shows that the straps are WAY more accurate than without. You generally forget they are there, unless you have it too tight. Honestly, the watch part is more annoying than the chest strap... so sometimes I take it off and just have it nearby (it has a 2m range or so).
  • I have the Polar F6, it's great. My wife and I share it... it's a little annoying having to change the user settings every day but that's all it is, it takes 30-60 seconds once you get used to it. We got the men's version and I'd like to say to everyone to just get the women's version since it's smaller... with this one I…
  • I wouldn't worry about it as long as your net calories are where they should be. On a typical week I burn around 3000 calories in exercise, I just eat extra to cover it.
  • You aren't eating enough. Try eating some or all of your exercise calories. It will help!
  • Here's a site for you to look at when you're really sick of Yoga-X :) Or if you need some new move ideas to add on to it. http://youwillnotbelieve.typepad.com/ywnb_the_blog/star-wars-yoga/
  • I started P90X Lean in late January. Phase 2 started a few days ago, and I switched into a sortof-doubles mode actually, except instead of the Cardio X on the doubles days I am doing 30-60min on the elliptical, and when the weather is nicer out I'll bike or run instead. I didn't really lose a whole lot of weight in Phase 1…
  • It's almost full anyway, we could use a new one :) I just started Phase II this week. I burn between 400 and 700 calories depending on the video. The highest is Plyo, the lowest is (ironically) Cardio.
  • My knees started hurting just thinking about that! Congratulations though, that's fairly amazing!
  • awesome! I just passed that mark myself a couple of weeks ago.
  • you still lost all the weight the old scale says you did, it's just a slightly different actual amount. So don't feel bad, it doesn't reduce your accomplishments at all.
  • I'm just finishing Week 4 (the first recovery week). I've lost about 10 pounds on the program so far, and that includes adding some muscle mass. The biggest difference is how I feel though. I'm way more flexible and I *feel* stronger, which is cool :)
  • Awesome! Congrats! I just cracked 200 myself last week, and in fact somehow managed to stay just under even through my horrible weekend.
