How did your long hike go? Where did you go. Inquiring minds want to know

I have done the GA section several times so am full of info. Feel free to pick my brain. But I have never done it with boyscouts. What will the ages be? How many miles are you planning to do daily? I personally would go with regular stoves for cooking. Whether it's a jetboil or alcohol stove or something similar. Cooking…

Doesn't it feel amazing to accomplish something like that. I love it when I get to the top of a mountain.

I'm cheap. My pants come from Target. And they have held up well over the last year. My tops I get at Penny's because I am still in plus size shirts. And they are a good price there as well

Didn't get a chance to thoroughly read all the responses so I am sorry if this is repeated. What jumps out at me is alot of processed stuff. Chips, cereal, english muffins, popcorn. My suggestion is to eat more clean foods. Lower the carbs and up the protein.
-
Nope, not simple at all. Sometimes I feel like you need a science degree to figure out what people are talking about. I am a believer of eating clean un-processed foods. if I go over my calories on a given day I am not worried as long as I didn't put junk in my body. Maybe people make it complicated so they have an excuse?…
-
And how pray tell did you come to this decision? I'm still alive and do crossfit and have had no injuries

I wouldn't worry about losing weight while sick. Eat healthy foods, drink plenty of fluids, and rest so your body can get better. the flu won't last forever
-
It's not a good idea to stop taking your thyroid medication. It can cause serious problems. I used to be on Synthroid but am on Armour (2 pills in morning and 1 at night) and seem to be doing much better.
-
Its processed crap that will give you horrible gas. Why can't you buy your own groceries and prepare your own food?

Welcome to the group natwen. I bet Yosemite was awesome. One day I hope to get out west and do some hiking. Advice for newbies? Just get out there. It's what I did. Maybe hook up with a meetup group?
-
I log my exercise but just for the minutes. My HRM broke and I know the calories are not even close to what actually burned. But logging them for the minutes does keep me accountable to myself
-
I don't know anything about it but I believe if you eat clean unprocessed foods your body will cleanse itself.

another vote for the stove here
-
Can you get up any earlier to have uninterrupted workout time?
-
I work out because I love to hike. Anything to make it a little easier is a plus in my book. And to help me lose weight
-
I say workout when you can. Any workout is better than no workout. I am not a morning person so it makes no sense for me to try and get up and workout then.

another vote for Body Glide.

I have to say that this comment really pisses me off. Don't be such a jacka**

I would also reconsider what you are carrying, Why would you be carrying 50 pounds? My pack for myself with 6 days of food was 35 pounds.
-
Exactly what I was thinking. :)
-
I'm sorry that you had to go through that. I know first hand the humiliation you must have felt. I think you took the high road and didn't say what you were thinking. Now go write a letter and call the company headquarters and tell them exactly what happened. And just keep going day by day, hour by hour if needed to get to…

I love that Buckcherry song. Usually when I am exhausted i'll skip ahead to that song and it gets me going again

www.jog.fm put in your running pace and get music. It will let you listen to clips to see if you like it
-
I don't think I would record it either. simply because the heart rate wouldn't get elevated for the most part.
-
I don't necessarily take it everyday but I always put it in my oatmeal or my protein shake. It's awesomely yummy
-
Glad some other people like it. I just have to remember it myself :)

I'm 5'6" and weigh 219 right now. I would also like to get down to about 150. I'd really like to be a size 10 but I don't know how that converts into pounds. You can add me as a friend if you want.

next response: Instant refried beans and powdered hummus (sold in bulk at the food co-op), cheese, chili made with TVP, hard-boiled eggs, protein powder in oatmeal. Lots of ideas in: Lipsmackin Vegetartian Backpackin' by Christine Conners.
