  • 5' here! Lost about 60lbs last year, started weight training this January. Started at 175, lowest was 106, now 114 & trying to get stronger & more toned. Night before giving birth to my 2nd via c-section 211lbs. 1 month into changing my life forever, 168lbs. End of weight loss, 110lbs, size 0. Right hand side is 6 weeks…
  • Mom of 2 boys, now 4 & 1. 2 c-sections. I started out overweight before pregnancy so I think that was the worst thing for my belly. I had severe hypertension with my 1st & the stretchmarks behind my knees to prove it! I have loose skin too, it got worse the more weight I lost. Night before delivery, 5' & 211lbs. 3 months…
  • Maybe add another meal in instead of just a snack? I'd add in a good sized portion of lean meat-chicken, turkey. You can do a lot with it ground too. It would fit with your calories & help fill in the low-fat, high protein needs. Do you ever do protein shakes? I always drink one after I lift & that would help fill in some…
  • While I'm not paleo, I'm primal for the most part (couldn't drop grains AND dairy!) I've noticed a big difference since ditching grains. I never thought I had a problem with them ever, I was mainly doing it for overall gut health (grains reach havoc on our guts & is the root for so many health problems) but I've been doing…
  • I appreciate carbs. It's the grains I stay away from for the most part because of the affects they have on our gut health, which then affects our overall health in many ways. I've noticed only positive changes by avoiding the grains side of carbs.
  • I think Christmas Abbot is amazingly sexy. She obviously cares about her body & that hard work is sexy. She appears to be confident in herself. That's sexy. She's broken ground by becoming the 1st female pit crew member in NASCAR. That's sexy. And her breast size doesn't make or break that. It's not just one single thing…
  • I eat mostly primal so I'd try to eat more healthy fats & protein & cut down the carbs & sugar, especially in the morning. Fat & protein keep us full longer & make us feel satiated. Nothing against protein bars but many can be glorified candy bars.
  • I'm at about 15% with a good amount of muscle & don't look like either of those women. Interesting how different we can be despite our weights/heights, bf% etc being nearly the same.
  • As I tell my husband...this is what I'm making, if you don't like it don't eat it but you are on your own then! A grown man can fend for himself & make his own health choices & they certainly shouldn't stop you from making yours too.
  • Since changing our foods to organic, grass-fed & pasture raised for the most part our family of 4-husband, me, 4yr old boy, 1 yr old boy-can spend between $150-250/week depending on our needs. Our 4yr old has Autism & sensory issues & is extremely picky about eating & 1 of the few good things I can buy for him that he is…
  • Whole by far is the better choice health-wise. I always recommend the book "Real Food" by Nina Planck. Amazing info on real foods & why we should skip the low-fat, non-fat stuff! She talks about every food group, it's very fascinating. And some parts horrifying about conventionally raised foods.
  • I only eat higher quality bacon, usually Applegate Organic uncured Sunday bacon. As a bonus for weight loss, it's only 60 calories/2 slices. Fat keeps you satiated & full longer so I wouldn't hesitate. ETA: If you get your fat from high quality, traditional sources the fat & cholesterol content won't matter much & won't…
  • I avoid them. It's just chemicals. I would much rather add lemon or cucumber slices to my water.
  • It doesn't look bad, you seem to be doing well so far. I'd eat more for breakfast though. And based on overall health I'd choose high quality products whenever I could-organic, pasture raised, grass-fed....that kinda thing. But that's getting picky! :) If you are losing & feel good so far why would you want to see about…
  • Very low carb is considered 30-50g/day. Not sure how that plays into your macro percentages. I had to play with mine a little to find what works for me. Between 20-25% works well for me, any lower & my workouts suffered. Good luck!
  • I'm 5", weigh 116lbs & wear a 0.
  • As far as eggs go, don't always think cage free, free range or vegetarian fed eggs are best. There is a HUGE gap as to what cage free & free range actually mean. It could easily mean they are in hen houses with a small door that has access to a small, enclosed concrete patio. And chickens aren't vegetarians, they are…
  • I do 1g protein per pound of body weight because I'm weight lifting & trying to add lean muscle mass. Typically you can eat less if you aren't looking to build muscle.
  • We buy organic, 100% grass fed pastured products as much as possible. It's worth it to me but it's also hugely because we can afford to get it & it's available in our area. Grain fed, conventionally raised meats have SO much wrong with them it's scary. Arsenic in chicken feed? No thank you! Because money is an issue I'd…
  • Most recently, "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark" by Fall Out Boy.
  • I eat ground turkey/chicken/beef/lamb. The lamb I get is pretty fatty, 26g of fat per 4oz. Same with the organic grass fed beef, 26g of fat per 4oz compared to the regular grass fed beef I've gotten which is 17g of fat per 4oz. The ground lamb is also around 340cals/4oz so that could help boost calories. I've also become a…
  • You will be eating close to the calories I eat at my weight. I gained weight-muscle- but my pants fit better than they did than when I was 6lbs less. Take your measurements now & again in a few weeks. Body fat too if you can. Even if you don't see what you want to on the scale I bet your body will be changing for the good!…
  • Coconut chicken/shrimp A few eggs, ground meat & veggies scrambled all together. I could eat this every day & so many variations you can do while incorporating all your macros. Canned tuna/salmon turned into tuna/salmon cakes. Use almond flour to bind it with egg.
  • I eat mostly primal & 50% of my calories are from high quality healthy fats. I have been doing heavy lifting 3-4x/week since the beginning of January &, with eating enough calories & protein, have gained 4lbs of muscle (though I'm a newbie so that's partly why I gained faster) & without trying my BF% has dropped slightly &…
  • Don't pay attention to MFP, they are notoriously wrong when it comes to calorie intake etc. Try this....and adjust calorie % depending on how you want to lose.... http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ I find this pretty accurate for me. ETA: My numbers are also based on NROLFW. I set mine at lose fat, gain muscle…
  • Breast milk is made up of whatever is in the mom's diet. If mom stays away from all dairy then her breast milk wouldn't have any dairy in it. Some babies can be highly sensitive to foods mom eats. Dairy & soy are often triggers for some babies.
  • Everyone has to start somewhere. Portion control is important so that's a great step you've made but you asked if eating pizza, pasta & doughnuts is healthy & will keep the weight off & the answer is no. Even in correct portions. No one can eat like that & continue to lose weight AND be healthy. Establishing nutritious…
  • Make sure to eat all your calories. Your intake has been pretty low since starting, especially if you are breastfeeding. I'm mostly primal too, 50% fat, 25% protein & 25% carbs. You can eat carbs, it's the grains to stay away from. Add in some sweet potatoes if you feel it's a carb issue but definitely up the calories if…
  • I lift heavy too. I'm 116lbs & eat 1850 on non-lifting days & 2100 on lifting days. I've gained 4lbs of muscle since the beginning of January, slightly dropped my body fat (which was already at 16.5% when I started) & my pants are looser than when I was at 110lbs. Go for it!!! :)
  • I'd say add in weight lifting. I added it in & am at 16% body fat now without even trying to lean out. ETA: I also eat more primal. 50% fat, 25% protein, 25% fat. It takes time to "retrain" your body to run off fat but it gets used to it. It would impact your performance until you get used to it though.
