  • Alright I'm working on this logging thing.
  • I need to get down about 100lbs too. Sign me up!
  • I enjoy Slow cooker roast, with a little butter and onion soup mix and just enough liquid to cover the bottom of the slow-cooker
  • I have used a variety of fit bit trackers, the One (back to using this through lost Flex, lost force) is helpful, I like the information, I tend to be less active during the day but it is nice to have a stimulus to look at getting more active. I tend only to sync at home so I tend to get a bit of a bump in calories at the…
  • I agree with people suggesting body-weight exercises, depending on where you were in your lifting program you may have to work on some of the forms that adjust to higher difficulty, maybe not standard push-up but Diamond or something like that. http://strength.stack52.com/periodic-table-of-bodyweight-exercises/ has a bit…
  • The easiest way is to then not call it a ceaser salad but enter your ingredients. I find this is easier when I am cooking at home though. Sorry if this is less helpful
  • I love swimming, if you are enjoying it, I would suggest trying to work on form, getting good form makes swimming more fun and you can push yourself to got faster. Great exercise, I am not sure that I would compare it to strength training with weights but it works out the entire body. Good luck!
  • The only people I have know to do this are from my work as a pharmacist, the homeless people on social assistance that get "free" Ensure to help them out nutritionally. I would not say that they have no health issues, but a number of them are related to lifestyle. I think overall most of them would prefer solid food from…
  • I Find this to be great advice. the other thing that I have found personally is sometimes you have to "fake it until you make it". There will be people in posts like these that will tell you that you don't want it enough yet, and that may be true, that said you may want to want it enough and for now that might be good…
  • I owned a force after having a one for a while, both were lost. Looking back I think that the Screen on the Flex is better. That sounds wierd but I would get a flex over a force these days, the force is not a watch replacement, you have to turn on the screen to get the time and that is awkward. I think the flex with a real…
  • seems like a good plan to at least start getting active
  • When I read that I worry about COPD, which is common for people who have smoked. Quitting was a huge step for your health, but the damage from smoking may exist. There may be medications that you can take to lessen future remodelling of your lungs. In general with lung issues I would talk with a doctor and that may lead to…
  • Have you considered resistance bands, they can be very affordable and do not take up a lot of space. Not technically lifting, but depending on your needs they may bridge a gap for you.
  • An interesting Motivator that I have been using more recently is discussed on Lifehacker http://lifehacker.com/281626/jerry-seinfelds-productivity-secret The thing that can help is getting a streak of successes behind you to keep you motivated to keep it up. It is a lot easier to keep doing something regularly if you have…
  • We don't sub Califlower for rice all the time, but we do like it. we will use our Slicer Shredder attachment to grate it then you can microwave it on high for 2 -3 minutes. Works well, especially with things that already have a sauce on them. We like it with Stroganoff, lemonade chicken, curreys, and others. When we want…
  • Good question! I feel like I am in a similar boat about a number of things. I am sure this will get a number of "just get off your butt and do it" responses, I lookforward to reading some of the other thoughts
  • Sure I could use some motivational friends
  • I would talk with management at the gym. I am not sure that this is his role and there may be other trainers that would suit you better? Seems like there should be a test drive option for this type of thing.
  • A Board game would be great for me.... www.boardgamegeek.com I would like to get Sentinels of the multiverse! or Agricola or maybe the Star trek deck building game. Maybe something active you wouldn't normally go for, Fencing class for me! Or you know shoes, or maybe a kettlebell? Ipod? Sign up for a 5 k run? Yoga pants?
  • Drop dead healthy - a middle age mad wants to become as healthy as possible so looks into a lot of the things people try to do to get healthy, with some skepticism and humour thrown in!
  • Sorry I am not a user of this medication. Just so that you know there may be other individuals on this forum who will disagree very vocally about the use of supplements of diet pills. They very well may comment on this so be prepared. Many people will advocate for slower weight loss with longer term sustainable maintence,…
  • we have a few, personal favorite is Stewing beef (don't bother browning it) Couple of onions, Carrots Celery a potato or two a sweet potato maybe a little garlic if you want beef bullion add a little water until it covers about half of the veggies up to 2/3rds I add montreal steak spice (but black pepper works too) then…
  • When you get there find out if there are any Pace bunnies. These guys and gals are often dressed up (sometimes as bunnies, sometimes just crazy colours) and will set different paceslike 12 min/Km or the like, if one of them matches your normal pace keep them in sight, If you are a little faster , see the one ahead adn try…
  • As a Christian, I know that God has the power to heal people, and there are times when this is what happens. Very often God will use those around us to "be His hands", this can be the doctor that helps a sick child, the person who smiles and says "you look great today". I truely believe that revelation is not closed,…
  • Weeeeelllll.... just to stir the pot a bit here. Unless you have gone through menopause based on the calculators and stuff my wife tells me that women would meet the OB/GY definition of pregnant up to their next period, so a woman might be "3 weeks pregnant" if you use those scales. PLease don't hit me! Just trying to…
  • I like the part about lightbulbs, I need to remember to buy lightbulbs for my garage!
  • 5 lbs is AWESOME. That seriously is great. Better to be down 5 lbs then 1lbs, Even then better down 1 lbs then 0, better 0 then gains. Keep going often we need to lay a foundation to really get things going! Also don't forget to periodically re-do your goals, what helps you lose0.5 -1 lbs a week will end up being…
  • I agree with the once a week or less crowd. I tend to go every 7-10 days, first thing in the morning right after I shower (maybe I am less accurate due to a little wet hair, or something.) In a lot of ways it gives me something to look forward to each week, I like to see some hopefully noticeable downward trends!
  • Talk to your doctor about depression....?
  • Leftovers from last night's dinner are my staple for lunchtime. Sometimes I need to excersize more portion control with this but it saves me time and money, prepare once and eat it twice. Works best if you have a method ov reheating at you workplace (microwave, toaster oven)
