  • Stop flirting.
  • lol. Gotta love MFP Forums!
  • Agreed. Furthermore, I'm in the military, and have worked in law enforcement as well. Would I like to be paid more? Sure! Who wouldn't? But I knew of the risks and compensation involved before I joined. The amount of money pro-athletes make is of little concern to me. In America, you have a .00565% chance of becoming one.…
  • You asked short questions with a significant lack of detail, so I'm going to give you short answers: 1. There is no way to answer that question accurately. 2. There is no way to answer that question accurately. 3. No. All of this depends WHOLLY on diet, intensity level, amount of weight and reps lifted, your own genetic…
  • No, I'm quite certain this has never been asked before. Ever. I promise. Good question. I'm sorry...was my answer not helpful? Put it in under cardio if you really want to, but if you want a real answer to the "how many calories did I burn?" question, the only thing I can tell you is get a heart rate monitor and put it in…
  • As to the "vanity"-only point, I don't think comparing the two are even in the same league. I, for one, am damn glad that my mother made the decision to circumcise me at birth, because there is no way in hell I'd volunteer for surgery on my penis as an adult. I also have never heard one male tell me that they wished they…
  • You can easily figure this out mathematically. Fat has 9 calories per gram. Protein has 4 calories per gram. 18 grams of fat is 162 calories in and of itself, so you know that can't be right if 2 cooked slices only has 45 calories. I don't believe the 45 calorie number for a second, however, unless we're only talking 1…
  • From the days I looked at (4 or 5), you are well within healthy ranges as far as your percentages of carbs/fat/protein, and seem to be making healthy, whole food choices. I see nothing wrong with what you're tracking, but I also don't know enough details about you to give any true and personal, educated advice. If anyone…
  • 1. If I had a dollar for every time I saw this exact post title... 2. There is so much misinformation and bad advice already in this thread that I really wish I hadn't even opened it. I feel stupider having done so. If you want a true and thorough answer to your question, you may want to find a more reliable/scientific…
  • Well said. Period. End of conversation. I do often bite my tongue when I read some of the crap that people post because I don't want to be the reason some weak ignoramus blew their own brains out (even though I'm generally also thinking maybe "natural selection" wouldn't be such a bad thing). Dieting is hard. Working out…
  • You're fine. IMO, the default MFP protein calculation should be used as a minimum. The value of higher percentages of protein for weight loss and overall health has been documented and backed by numerous scientific studies.
  • Eating a balanced diet doesn't have to cost a fortune. My staples are eggs, whole-grain bread, brown rice, oatmeal, broccoli and frozen chicken breast. The only thing on that list that costs more than a couple bucks is the chicken, but you definitely need some high-quality protein. Good luck!
  • Rock climbing adventure guide. @ DaniD. Dayum...you can be my hot boss! ;)
  • No. You will lose water weight if not hydrating properly, but the amount of sweat produced has no direct affect on calorie burn. It takes an elevated heart-rate and increased oxygen consumption to burn calories. Similarly, a sauna will only help you lose water-weight. No evidence of significantly elevated calorie burn has…
  • Your day-to-day activity level is recorded when you sign up for MFP. Caloric requirements are calculated based on your weight and chosen activity level. If you chose an active (not sedentary) lifestyle, you should not record your work as exercise.
  • Awesome, dude. I bet old friends wouldn't even recognize you! Good work!
  • Loose elastic-band sweatpants and a tank-top or t-shirt is fine with me. There's just something about a hot girl in sweatpants that turns me on...plus...easy access. ;) I actually don't prefer naked. I usually sleep with my shirt off, and I like to cuddle sometimes. Skin on skin can become sweaty and uncomfortable fairly…
  • 8. Beautiful eyes. :) I can't see the majority of you, though.
  • You're perfectly fine going over on protein, in fact, if you're going by MFP auto calculations, I recommend it. I believe MFP calculates protein as 15% of your daily caloric intake, which is very low. I recommend eating protein in the 25-35% range. As long as you're below your daily caloric goal, don't sweat it.
  • While in Pittsburgh, I've been mistaken on more than one occasion for Jordan Staal of the Penguins.
  • Nike+ GPS works great with the iPhone.
  • Obviously, MFP doesn't measure variables in intensity (incline or running hills), so it is a best guess if you have nothing else to go by. If the treadmill calculates calories based on your weight then it's probably pretty close. A heart-rate meter is the only way to really measure calorie burn accurately, but the machines…
  • Yes and that mindset disgusts me. It's not that hard. Scientifically, either you are in a "normal" body fat range, you're overweight, or you're obese. Usually it's people in the obese category that make comments like that, and then go right back to downing their triple with cheese combo. If you're not worried about your…
  • If you are a competitive swimmer then your body has no-doubt adapted and become very efficient at swimming. Diet and eating "clean" are obviously a huge factor in losing "that last little bit" of weight, but making your body do some sort of cardio that it's not used to can help. HIIT such as wind sprints can burn a ton of…
  • The key is to ensure that your multi-grain bread is actually made with whole grain. If you see the words "enriched" or "bleached" on the ingredients list, you need to find a new brand. Also check for sugar content and high-fructose corn syrup inclusion. "Whole" grains are your friends. Refined grains are not. The word…
  • I can't stand cottage cheese, but I've been trying to mix it into some things due to the high protein content. I recently made some tuna salad that was actually pretty darn good: 1 Can Tuna 3/4 Cup Cottage Cheese 2 tbsp Plain Greek Yogurt 3 tbsp sweet pickle cubes 3 tbsp chopped onion 3 tbsp chopped celery Throw it on some…
  • Cardio needs to be done after weight training for the best results. Yes, you can do some cardio as a warm-up, but limit that to 5-10 minutes, and do the bulk of your cardio afterwards.
  • “All in all, saunas appear safe for the body, but there is little evidence that they have health benefits above and beyond relaxation and a feeling of well-being,” says Dr. Harvey Simon, editor-in-chief of Harvard Men’s Health Watch.
  • Hmmm...I can think of something. It can be done in the bedroom, on the couch, in the kitchen, on the washing machine, even in the car! :blushing: :)
