  • I don't know if I could use the Olympic bar for all the exercises in Cathe high reps that she uses it for. I know she also has dumbbells on the sides which I could do too. Thoughts?
  • In the book there are workouts that it says to add to after you finish doing workouts A & B eight times
  • I'm not trying to question your goals, but why the specific weight goal? If you are 5'3, then you are normal for BMI and if you are gaining strength that's great for your metabolism. Is it a goal you've always had for yourself? Did you like your appearance best when you were at that weight? Just curious--I'm sorry things…
  • If you search women's weightlifting websites, you can find some good routines at home. As a grad student, I don't have a gym membership so I also am an avid home weight lifter. Never go up in weight because you feel pressured to--when something feels too easy or too light, that's when you go up. Good luck!
  • It sounds like you may be eating too little. You workout 6 days per week, plus you have an active lifestyle as a SAHM. Maybe try putting the deficit up to 15% and see what happens. I know eating more is scary (I still struggle with it), but if 20% isn't working maybe your body requires more energy. You will accomplish your…
  • I just started committing myself to EM2WL so I haven't really lost weight yet. I'm looking more to tone up than to lose pounds, if that makes sense. I'm 5'5, weigh 160, and am 26% body fat.
  • You raise a good point--what credentials do I have to know how much is too much? Also, I don't think it was the amount of eating per se that got me into trouble, I think it was what I was actually eating. I've never been overweight, but I have been flabby and not toned. Also, I think part of my problem is that my mom…
  • I've been using 2 pound wrist weights that I have. I've also been following the modified woman though since I've been sick. This program is hard! My upper back feels like it ripped off...
  • Just ordered Les Mills combat. How heavy of weighted gloves should I get?
  • I'm gonna say Truman wanted to kill 2 birds with 1 stone so he indeed could end the war and scare the Russians
  • So should I switch up my cardio routine? Like I said I've been running for a bit now. I love kickboxing and dancing, so I was thinking of switching it up every week to keep it interesting for myself and to confuse the muscles. Is that a good idea?
  • former competitive distance swimmer--500 free, 200 free, 100 free in 400 free relay, and occasionally the fly in 200 medley relay.
  • CONGRATULATIONS! I love your attitude--.5 mile is something to be proud of!
  • CONGRATS! you're almost there =)
  • I just got my certification, and I was wondering what you would specifically look for in a personal trainer? Would you ever consider some of the online training programs, where you communicate daily with your trainer, and follow the plan they create for you? How often do you expect to meet with a trainer? Is appearance…
  • It really DOES get easier! I was just thinking that yesterday. I did a 20 minute run yesterday (week 6 day 3) and I was SO scared before starting. However, I was REALLY IMPRESSED with how far I've come. It used to feel like running for 90 seconds was brutal, and look to where I am! You will notice a difference in your…
  • I agree that cardio 2 is much better than cardio 1. I think it's funner and less repetitive. I'm glad the program is working so well for you; keep it up!
  • it can't hurt to try it. i say go ahead; there are people who run back to back days. if it's too much for you, you'll know.
  • AWESOME! I did week 5 day 3 today also! It was such a great feeling to know that I ran for 10 minutes without stopping. Congratulations and keep up the amazing work!
  • If it's a continuous slight pain, then I would get it checked out. Even though the pain is slight now, if it's something more serious it could get worse if it's not looked at. At the very least, you go to the doctor and he/she puts your mind at ease by saying you are free to run without issue. That's what I would do. Good…
  • Hello Hello! Welcome! I hope you get better soon so you can get your groove on again! =)
  • I like cardio 2 better than cardio 1. also, prepare yourself for more yoga inspired moves!
  • Well that just deflated the air in my ego. I would think "these people are sweating too, WOW!" well no wonder---they did 9 times the work I did!
  • I think your best bet is to focus on the positive. Look at what you've accomplished! When you stay positive, it helps you make positive choices. Also, remember---you are your own worst critic. Lots of people are going to be at the beach to have fun and not even notice the people around them. Who cares what a bunch of…
  • Have you talked to your doctor about a possible meal plan? If you want to put on muscle weight I would shoot for a protein high diet. With what I've read on the topic, most people start at 60% protein and work your way up. My problem is trying to lose weight, but with the strength training plan I've done and the upping of…
  • Congratulations on your progress! Seriously, that's awesome, ESP when it's so hot!
  • I totally stand by the fact that this program is so versatile! I did workout 4 today and did all of the modifications that make the workouts harder. Holy crap was I super sweaty and sore! Again, my recovery is quicker but it's such an adaptable program! I am doing JMBR 2 days a week because I am training for a 5K and I'm…
  • I've definitely been afraid. I think it's good that both of you can be so insightful about it; it took me awhile to figure it out! I associated being happy with being thinner. That scared me because what if I got down to my goal weight and I still wasn't happy? When would the "goal weight" be enough? I associated happiness…
  • hey you did it and that's what counts! you da bomb!

  • I agree that you should wait til you get to 170 to make a decision. Who knows? You could get there and be happy and want to maintain that weight. Or, you may decide you want to lose a little bit more. I tend to go by how I feel and look, but I also want to stay in a healthy weight range for my height. Good luck; congrats…
