  • It's not for everyone. I like mine, but I like measuring things. All kinds of things. I've got spreadsheets to track my spreadsheets. If you feel like its just one more thing to keep track of and would be more of a hassle than not, then perhaps trade it in for something else. My guess is that you know yourself and have…
  • 34DDD here. I wear 2 sports bras. I also try to do low impact exercises like elliptical trainer and cycling. Ultimately, you just gotta strap the girls down. If you can take a deep breath comfortably, you're probably doing it wrong.
  • I work out every day, but I don't go to the gym. I do body weight exercises at home, cycle, run, and dance. I see a lot cyclists and runners in the 40+ category. Without really trying, I've added 6 pounds of muscle over the last year. The only weights I lift are the occasional kettle bell swings. Otherwise I've been using…
  • I do share a bed with my spouse, but that is because we only have one bedroom. When we lived in a larger place, I would sometimes sleep alone because we were on different schedules. Also, he used to snore quite loudly, but that isn't much of an issue now that he has lost weight. But, I would sleep in the guest room on a…
  • I like to use hummus as a spread for sandwiches. Lately I've been hooked on vegenaise, but it is an acquired taste. You could also try ranch dressing (or any salad dressing for that matter). Get creative. I've even mixed sriracha and strawberry jam for a hot-sweet flavor on my turkey and swiss.
  • I'm pretty sure most of the population of Las Vegas would starve to death if they all decided to only eat locally sourced food.
  • I look at places like Dairy Queen just like I would a drug pusher. If I'm not careful, it will ruin my health. Even worse, Dairy Queen and Baskin Robbin's is literally across the street from my apartment complex. :frown:
  • I guess nobody's perfect.
  • I don't think anyone cares or notices if your are feeling a little chilly at the gym. If they do, they need to get over their taliban-like thought process that women are dirty and sinful for being a normal human being with a natural response to cool air.
  • The white chocolate raspberry flavor is my lunch at least a few days a week. I find them to be very filling when combined with string cheese and a piece of fruit. This lunch also requires no refrigeration at room temperature and takes no time at all to pack in the morning.
  • I fear this winter will never end.
  • #10 says everything I need to know to put on my skeptic hat. Most of this list sounds like bull****. I'd like to know where this guy got an apple that was harvested in 1940 so that it could be checked with modern lab equipment for nutrient content.
  • Do the splits. In a lifetime of trying, it has never happened.
  • Weight loss by itself does not make me happy. Feeling like a super hero, sleeping like a baby, running circles around people half my age, touching my toes, chasing my dog, thinking clearly, reconnecting with my spouse having the energy to do whatever I want...That makes me happy.
  • Fresh juice in the morning instead of solid food sounds like a great idea. I like to make a fruit and veggie combo juice. This morning I juiced: Sweet potato Orange Apple Asparagus Cilantro Celery Red Chili Pepper It was really good and filling. Give it a try and see if it works for you.
  • I suppose you could try eliminating eggs and meat and other high protein sources and eating mostly fruits and vegetables for a couple of days and see if you feel better. Maybe your body just doesn't like cream of wheat. Try oatmeal instead.
  • My first marriage comes to mind.
  • I do body weight exercises only. Some people think this is ineffective, but I have gained almost 3 pounds of muscle over the last 6 months. That is an insane amount of muscle mass for a woman of my age. I only own 1 15 pound kettlebell. It's all I need.
  • It varies depending on the day and how much time I have available. I've been known to spend up to 11 hours on my bicycle in one day. Sometimes I crank out 20 minutes of very hard intervals. I aim for a cumulative cardio workout of 1+ hours a day at 65%-95% of MHR.
  • Do you have a pedometer? That will tell you your true activity level outside of your workouts. Mine shows me as walking about 5 miles a day at my job. I consider myself "active." When I had a desk job, I listed myself as lightly active because I was still walking my dog several times a day and rode my bike to and from work…
  • Nope. I'm allergic to junk food. It makes me break out in cellulite.
  • Hi there and welcome to the club. We all join at some point. I've found that very hard/vigorous exercise helps with the lethargy and mood swings. Unfortunately, I've had to run myself into the dirt lately in order to get a full nights sleep. Not sure if it is menopause related or just seasonal depression. I just spent the…
  • About 1.5% of the human population is able to achieve body recomposition. If you've noticed that you can put on muscle easily, you may be one of the genetic lottery winners. Natural professional body builders fall into this category. Otherwise, in order to lose fat you are going to have to sacrifice some muscle mass as…
  • I saw the same thing filled in by Australians, and it was equally funny. It was the USA w/o the states names filled in just like this link the OP posted. I can't remember where I saw it, otherwise I'd post a link. The only States they got right consistently were Texas and California.
  • I regularly get blank friend requests from people whose profile says they do not accept blank friend requests. I guess they don't see the irony.
  • I went my first 3 months on MFP without any weight loss at all. Turns out I was way under estimating my portions. I bought a food scale that made a huge difference.
  • I have a quest bar and either a piece of string cheese or a piece of fruit such as an apple. I don't eat lunch while I'm at work, so this small amount is enough to get my through my work day. I try to eat half of my daily calories at breakfast on the days I work. This can range from 800-1,000 calories. The OP's breakfast…
  • Give yourself one or two days a week where you eat at maintenance. Some people like to do this on the weekends, but any day of the week is good. This will help you keep your metabolism fired up when eating at deficit. I also noticed that you said MFP calculated 2300 a day for weight loss. That already calculates a 500…
  • I'm the same size as the OP and I had someone ask me that last year. I'm busty, and that may be part of it. I was also wearing a top that wasn't the most flattering. I got rid of the top after that.
  • I don't care as long as the clothes are flattering and comfortable. I think I'm currently a misses size 6. This depends on the manufacturer, of course.
