  • I am 5'5" and I lost 30 pounds before joining MFP. I would like to lose maybe 10 more. There are a couple of pictures in my profile you can take a look. I don't know how to post pictures in the forums yeat.

  • You are so right about the scale. I was so happy when I started measuring foods and saw that I could eat more. It also helps to measure and learn what the serving size really looks for times when you are out and about and can't measure your food.
  • Well - I did a liquid fast a couple of weeks ago, mainly just to support my 5 year old son. He needed to be on a liquid fast to prepare for a medical test and I just did it with him so I would know how he felt and could be more empathic. We did it for 2 days, we drank water, sparkling water, juices and vegetable broths. I…
  • Similar thing happens to my son after eating dairy. A few hours later he gets really badly congested and gets a rash around his mouth. The allergy test came back negative, but his inflammation levels were through the roof. He had not eaten any dairy for 3 years and was just fine (never congested, no rashes, never sick).…
  • Bump and thanks. Going to try making them with brown rice flour so they are gluten free. That way my son can have some if he wants to.
  • I've never paid attention to what kind of shoes I wore while running. If they feel good on my feet - I run in them. As far as safety while running on the trail - I would say don't listen to any music so you can hear if anyone is approaching you, have your cell phone with you and mace (pepper spray). I suppose you can text…
  • I used to have it, and it went away.
  • Welcome and good luck!
  • You've gotten some good suggestions already. The important thing for me is to not let anything go to waste. I save all the little bits and pieces of vegetables and meats (even bones) and keep them in a bag in the freezer. I make a soup out of all of it when I have saved enough. It's delicous and it's like a free meal. Same…
  • You are beautiful in your old pictures and you are still beautiful now. I can tell you are not happy with the way you look now and there's no reason why you wouldn't be able to improve the way you look and feel. Exercise and a good wholesome diet are the true miracle workers. I
  •
  • Yes, you are right - thank you. I always rinse the beans before eating them and I hope that rinses some of the added sodium out. It's an occasional thing. I do on occasion cook dried beans from scratch. I guess I cook a lot and then freeze the extras. That way I wouldn't get the extra sodium adn I won't have a can to toss…
  • Everything you have on your list minus the cottage cheese and vodka. In addition I also buy a lot of apples, pears, grapes, brocolli, green beans, kale, cans of sardines, persian cucumbers, red bell peppers, onions, mushrooms, celery, salmon, chicken steak, ground beef, nuts, rice, quinoa, cans of black beans, cans of…
  • I love running, I love going for a bike ride before sunrise, I love doing yoga as active relaxation before bed. My favorite is my kickboxing and sparring workout. I have an amazing training partner (a guy who's not afraid to hit a girl and is not ashamed when he goes down sometimes). I love going to the market with my kids…
  • Never too sore to go for a walk and a light stretch. You might even feel better afterwards.
  • I would suggest protein powder. Jay Robb vanilla or chocolate whey protein powder is my favorite (no artificial anything and they are sweetened with stevia). Mix a scoop of protein powder in a bottle of water and sip that throughout the day.
  • I would suggest you look up Tom Venuto's Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle book or at least read his many articles. Very helpful and informative. You should also get your body fat measured and then you'll know better what's happening with your body.
  • You can toast it first and then rinse it. It's just a little quicker that way. It gets ride of the bitter taste but you don't have to wait for the wet quinoa to dry and get toasted.
  •     I can't stop laughing!!!! You look amazing and what a great photo.
  • How wonderful for you!!! This is an amazing NSV for you. ...and I laughed so much at what your husband said. I love hiking but have to keep it to about 4 miles because that's all my 5 year old can handle. My 7 year old can probably go for longer.
  • You are welcome. I wonder why it's wrong to say the word c h u n k s  . They blanked it out with stars
  • This is my favorite - about 2 green onions a large handful fresh parsley (cilantro might be good too) 1 tsp lemon zest salt and black pepper some shredded carrots maybe some sunflower seeds (not always) sometimes if I have leftover salmon - I mix it in about 1 cup cooked quinoa or brown rice or black beans In a food…
  • It really isn't a lot of work at all. I just toast the rice first before rinsing it. The toasting process partially cooks it and then it takes less water and less time to cook. We all love the taste of it when it's done this way and it doesn't need any additions. I also cook quinoa and amaranth the same way. Even when I…
  • This is the basic way I cook all my grains - First I toast the rice in a dry pan. Just keep mixing it around until the first grains start to pop. Then I rinse it, return back to the pan, add water (about 1 1/2 cups per 1 cup rice), 1 tsp butter and some sea salt, cover, bring to a boil then turn down to simmer. It cooks in…
  • I love running outside, but I live in a very flat area so once in a while I hit the treadmill for some hill running.
  • It happens to me every time we do sprints. I asked my MA instructor about it and he told me that if I don't get nauseous during sprints - I'm not putting enough effort. I just drink some ice cold water and get fresh air and the nausea goes away.
  • I have not run in a 5K race, but my usual running route is just inder 4 miles and I finish that in about 40min. I started running about a year ago.
