I have several clients who are over 50 and were able to lose weight by eating 6 small meals a day and balancing their blood sugar. They also made sure that they drank lots of water, got enough sleep, watched their stress level- etc. The other thing they did was focus more on strength training than on cardio.

When I got to maintenance my calorie intake was 1800 a day and that included exercise 4-5 days a week.

Also, there are other brands that you may tolerate better. I have trouble with the medifast fish out too. I use one that is meant for pregnant women (and Im not pre go) because its easier on the stomach
