  • I never used one and I had 5 children and a set of twins. I just don't like the way it looks, I guess that is what seems offensive or like walking your pet. however, I have learned to have an open mind and if this is being used to keep a child safe, then by all means it is important to that parent and child. Someone on…
  • Great job! You look so much younger!! Inspirational!!
  • Wow~ You must be so proud of yourself. You look fantastic, so much younger. Your neck even looks long! Way to go~ I hope for some of your good habits to rub off on me!!
  • What a great story! Nothing like getting back up on the horse! I love it especially at this time when I am turning my failure into a positive.....lost over 50 pounds, went on vacation and gained back 20, and seemed to have forgotten every good rule and practice that I learned! UGH! But, I am also back on track. Just…
  • Hi I'm 54. Would love anyone to add me to their friend list. I have some trouble with motivation and I cannot exercise as I would like as I need 2 new hips. I lost over 50 pounds before I came here and have been stuck in a vigorous cycle of up and down. I would like to lose 50 more pounds.
  • I so know what you are going through! I have been struggling for about a year. I was at my highest over 300 lbs, I was so discouraged I quit weighing myself. But a size 28 was snug. Once I had the nerve to get on the scale again, I was 298. I am now 264. I had actually been 20 pounds less and gained that back! For me, it…
  • I think you already know the answer or you wouldnt be having such indecision over it. Why waste your valuable time doing something you dont want to, and could even be dangerous, when you could spend that time looking elsewhere to something you are more suited to? Good luck either way!
  • I will occasionally eat at McDonalds. I will have a kids meal. The hamburger or 4 nuggets is enough to satisfy me and the kids size fries are perfect. I sometimes get the milk with it, but they also have low cal options. Since this "new me" is going to be for life, I really study the menu in most of the places that I go or…
  • :flowerforyou: Hi! I just had to reply because I have had the same thing happen. It is probably water you are retaining and you will lose it in a day or two. My body responds so differently to sodium these days. I lost 50 lbs before starting FP. There are many weeks that I have struggled with water weight gain. Just flush…
  • Thanks for your reply. I love soup so that is a great idea. I never thought about roasting the meat and veggies in a foil pack, that sounds very good. I appreciate your ideas!!
  • Sorry to hear about your mom's job! There are lots of ways to keep cost down. It is a good idea to not only make a list for shopping and check items off as you go along, but to also do a menu for the week as well. This way you have less chance of buying odds and ends you may not need. Many grocery stores also reduce price…
  • As a mom of 5, both boys and girls, I have to say the most important thing is be consistant. Once you start, follow through all the way. Some kids may take to it right away and train within a few days, other kids need a bit more time. Number 2 usually will take a bit longer, but it you can catch them right at the right…
  • Hello!! I like things high in protein, they keep me satisfied longer. Like overnight oatmeal, or greek yogurt with berries on a waffle. I am a snacker so I eat low calorie popcorn on and off to help me not pick at other stuff. Protein shake is always good to keep me going and sometimes I have it with non fat milk if I am…
  • I have to give my two cents for overnight or sometimes called refrigerator oatmeal!!! It is the best and gives you a satisfied feeling for a long time. If you like oatmeal at all, this is the way to go. My fav is Chocolate/banana and sometimes I add a spoon of peanut butter.
  • Welcome! I am fairly new. Love MFP! So many people in the same situation! THere is so much motivation. I love to read too. Friend me if you like.
  • Thank you! Cant wait to try it!
  • Iguess I must be from Mars but I have never heard of this. It sounds great though. So, please excuse the questions, I am a novice, but this is NOT the steel oats, Right? Just the old fashioned oatmeal? And you mix up your favorite combo and refridgerate over night, then eat cold or warm? Thats it?
  • LOL! Great list Don! That last one would also be a calorie burner. LOL
  • It is harder, I am 53 . My doctor told me to concentrate on protein more, he recommends 80 to 100 grams a day. Also water is very good, and vitamins. You want to feel at your very best. Good luck!
  • Lets face it, we did not get here because we ate too many bananas! haha Everything in moderation! If there is something you love and you forbid yourself you will eventually go nuts and eat a whole bunch. Dont believe the hype, trust yourself.
  • This is the same thing I do, when I need it, I take only 1/2 tab. It surprisely works very well. I use it just to get back on track, 1 to 3 nights and then usually I am back in the habit. I also use it when I stay somewhere else. It is always hard to fall asleep someplace else. It works very well.
  • I know what you mean. I gained so much weight when I was diagnosed with RA and put on steroid therapy. It was horrendous. That was 18 years ago and I have been on a up and down spiral since then, tried everything, even fasting. I now need 2 hips replaced and got a bariatric sleeve to launch me into my weight loss. It…
  • Not sure about the juice fast but I have experience with HMR fasting. You "drink" your protein several times a day and you drink water. My husband and I were both elated, we lost 50 lbs each and it was pretty fast. It was monitored weekly by a doctor, etc... There were 2 main problems, after we got over the week long…
  • Great work!! You have worked hard and can see the results! You must be very invigorated!!!
  • Hi! My name iKathy and I am new too. I have only been here 3 days I think. Anyway, you and I have bad hips in common! I had 100 lbs to lose and I had a gastric sleeve performed. I lost 50 which helped a lot. I am still waiting to have my first hip done and hope to lose more so that my recovery will be faster, and my new…
  • I am so glad you bravely posted this remark. I had the bariatric sleeve which is subject to all of the same tests, etc... I did not have too much pain afterword though. ANYWAY....so happy for you! I would do it over and over and over again! I lost 50 lbs quick which allowed me to walk without a walker or go in a wheelchair…
  • I had the sleeve Aug of 2011. I lost 50 lbs. I need 2 hip replacements and have severe arthritis in my spine and neck. It helped to lose those 50 lbs and now I am learning new habits and feeling like I have a chance. Unless someone has been in this situation it is very difficult to understand. I have never regretted the…
  • To seasick, glad to see you are young and you are taking control of your body now, That is so smart of you. It is still a struggle, no matter what your age but you will be able to enjoy your life more, participate in more things and live longer. THis website is amazing...wish I would have joined a long time ago!…
  • To lori, Thanks for your message. It is so inspiring. I wish I could exercise more, I have mobility problems because I need two hip replacements. But I swim as often as I can and walk several times a day for short treks.
