  • I can run soooo much faster outside. Plus, the treadmill does weird things to my stride and I end up with hurting legs. I'm 100% for outdoor running!!!
  • My big sis is obese and was during her last 2 pregancies. She gained like 3 lbs during the last pregnancy....and the baby weighed almost 10 lbs! It is possible to have plenty of calories for the baby without "eating for two". Just make sure you & the doc talk about what's healthy and that you eat PLENTY of nutrient dense…
  • Widowhood is NOT for the faint of heart! A close friend lost her husband very unexpectedly almost 4 years ago. It's been so hard on her. I'm so glad you have regained some positive momentum. Life will never be the same, but it CAN be good again. Best wishes to you!!
  • The only person you can "control" is you. You can not amp up his motivation. He's telling you quite clearly where he is on the subject by forgetting his lunch and "sneaking" snacks & sodas in his truck. He's not into it. Keep being healthy yourself and be ready to celebrate whatever steps he does decide to take toward…
  • While it wasn't weight loss that prompted my ex to hit the road, I, too was blindsided. It's been over 12 years, and i"m happier, healthier and overall just dandy now! Hang in there!
  • Since I run, I enjoy finding cool places to run while on vacation. It's fun to see a new location, and it's a little "me" time before the kiddos get up.
  • THIS!!!! ^^^^^

  • You are brave! I am a reasonably lean 140, and I will not go shirtless unless at the beach....which is only one week out of the year!! LOL!! My 2 babies made my belly skin a bit too wiggly for me to feel comfortable in just a sports bra. But that's me. People who yell random comments at strangers are, well, cowards. They…
  • If my standard of fitness is being able to consider being a fitness model (albeit an OLDER fitness model) then, no...I"m not "fit." But, if my standard is being able to reach certain physical exertion benchmarks or complete various challeneges (like races), then yes. I am fit....and on the way to being even more fit!
  • I've been splashed...rather SOAKED...by cars hitting gigantic puddles on two different occassions. One was on a cold rainy day....the other was on a day this past winter when we had a slight warm up, but the roads were still melting so I was covered in cinder, salt, nasty COLD water....and I was on my lunch break so I got…
  • Went out to a bar with a friend for the first time after getting kicked to the curb by my first husband and divorce was final. Was terrified at being at a club/bar. She left to go to the bathroom, but I stayed to keep our table. While she was gone, a drink appeared from "an admirer" says the server. I started to cry.…
  • Raises hand! I didn't start running until a lousy 5k performance motivated me to start. I was rolling up on FORTY years old!! Like you, I was good at cardio...I had been working out/losing weight for 3 months and thought I could handle a 5k. Wrong! It made me mad. So, I trained for a 5k. I ran the 5k and trimmed like 10…
  • Footwear and achilles stretching to help the shin pain. Poor footwear (or worn out footwear) almost always causes me shin pain. Slow down. Don't try to run at "race" speed. Work on being able to cover the distance you'd like to go, and then work on doing it faster at some point in the future. Too fast is almost always a…
  • I only lust after my hubby's bod. He happens to be a dad of 5. 6'1" and about 175lb. He has what I like. I don't really concern myself with other boys. :)

  • Short answer: vanity, health, and I like winning age group awards!
  • Hmmmmm.... I've had excellent customer service. Never needed to phone anyone. I skip plenty of months due to nothing too exciting. The outfits I have are basically my "low impact" workout outfits. I only buy my running gear from sources specifically targeting running. So, the sports bras from Fabletics are definitely not…
  • My weight fluctuations can cause me issues, but I only want to punch people in the face (or a good throat punch) based on their behavior...not my weight! ;-)
  • I put about 300-400 miles on a pair of shoes. I have crazy feet, but I HATE stability shoes. I wear Neutral Performance shoes. Currently enjoying Altra Intuition and Skechers GoRUN 4. I rotate between 2 different shoes all the time. I've been a big Brooks PureFlow fan until the 3rd iteration...they were too narrow in the…
  • You are definitely on the right track!! Remember, our bodies will adapt, so you'll have to change things up every so often. Add a new dietary change. Add in some new physical activity....walk a little farther, etc. Just know that you CAN do this. In fact you ARE doing it! Write your motivations down....kids, grocery w/out…
  • When my ex asked for a divorce I lost 25 lbs in about 2 1/2 months. Grief makes me NOT eat. Regular stress is when I eat like a mad fool. I hope you get over the disappointment soon.
  • My running shoes are usually around $100 a pop. I have paid more, but not gotten more quality. Midwest girl. Prices are reasonable on most things.
  • As long as you remember to take it down and not have your husband smash his head on it! LOL! My 17 year old son uses one all the time in the doorway of our spare room. He's light....maybe 130 lb. May not be as sturdy for someone with considerably higher weight.
  • Melatonin helps me fall asleep, but does nothing for me STAYING asleep. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) works, but I can't take it too close to bed time or I wake up feeling groggy until noon. I work out....consistently. Doesn't help me sleep. I don't smoke. I don't use caffeine regularly. I eat well. I *should* be sleeping…
  • Stretch the calves and achilles!!! I was miserable in the shoes that were "sold" to me because of my flat feet. I just naturally roll to the outside. I have bunions that make it worse. Instead of fighting my current stride, I bought neutral shoes and have learned to make improvements in my stride and strengthen my core &…
  • 22 months with my firstborn, about 6 weeks with my second.
  • I can't relate. The more fit I become, the smaller the girls get. **sigh**
  • I haven't been logging in a while, but I usually err on the side of over estimating. I figure 250 per 12 oz. My hubby home brews, so I know the struggle!
  • I make my own "trail mix" of sorts. I use my food scale and measure out portions of plain almonds, dried tart cherries (YUM!!!), and exactly 9 Nestle dark chocolate chips. It's a nice little sweet treat for the afternoon munchies. :-) The amounts I use totals about 150-160 calories.
  • Not that he cares, but yeah. He knows pretty much what I weigh. I'll actually tell anyone. I also don't hide my age. Although, recently a few gals pegged me for nearly a decade younger than I am.....but I think they were just being nice. :-)
  • Totally upfront. Of course, it was minimal. And by minimal, I mean paid off in like 2 months. Hiding debt is not cool. Not cool at all.
