  • First of all...let me say that I love to exercise. I am training for a half marathon right now, I swim, I kickbox and I teach water aerobics 4 times a week. I work out every day and can't say enough about the benefits of exercise.... HOWEVER, I also know from personal experience that losing weight is WAAAAAY more about…
  • Ring of Fire (the version by Social Distortion). This song has saved me at the end of more than one long run....LOVE IT!
  • I have been on it for 12 years and never had even one side affect (or at least no negative side affects). Make sure to go to your follow up appointments and get your levels checked when you are supposed to though. Even when you have been on one level for a long time things can change very suddenly.
  • I have the same problem. Really, I have supposedly learned this lesson 3 or 4 times now but apparently it hasn't sunk in completely yet.
  • 8 miles this week so far...up to 850...
  • You are much more likely to stick to this and keep the weight off if you actually get to eat something. Don't lower the number. Give it a try as MFP suggests and I bet you will see results.
  • My son eats the same thing every day (by his insistence and there are some battles that are just not worth fighting). PB&J sandwich (on whole wheat bread, no sugar added fruit spread) Yogurt of some kind String Cheese Soy milk I make homemade granola bars frequently so he will usually take that for a snack. My daughter…
  • I have to say that I really don't like running but I do feel great after a run. Having said that, I just ran my first 10k two weeks ago (have have run a few 5ks in the past) and then came home and signed up for a half marathon in Myrtle Beach in late February. I am starting Hal Higdon's 12 week half marathon training…
  • My guess is that you actually need to eat a little bit more. Especially exercising that much.
  • Veggies dipped in hummus - carrots, peppers, cauliflower. I agree that tazhiki (sp?) sauce is the bomb too. Nuts are an excellent snack you just need to watch the portion size. I love luna bars (nutz over chocolate flavor - I am addicted) I eat at least one banana a day - sometimes with a little peanut butter.
  • Luna bar - Nutz Over Chocolate. I am seriously addicted to these things. 190 calories.
  • I find if I don't work out in the morning then it just isn't going to happen that day. It is too easy to talk myself out of it later in the day.
  • Yes...eat more! You could play around with the calories some though too - 2300 one day 1900 the next etc.
  • I am running my first half in February. I am running a Warrior Dash and a 10k in October too. My youngest starts Kindergarten on Thursday so I am hoping that my training is going to get a little more consistent now. I have been a bit sporadic over the summer...still running but not progressing past the 3.5 I can do now at…
  • Yogurt (regular or Greek - Greek has more protein) vegetables - I am a big fan of squash, zucchini, tomatoes, carrots, peppers of all sorts Fruit - once or twice a day nuts (plain - not roasted or covered in all sorts of flavors) Honestly, I still eat a lot of the stuff I did before (beef, peanut butter, cheese) just not…
  • Well...the list is pretty long really but the very top of my hated food list is EGGS. I don't mind them baked IN stuff but I can't stand eggs on their own. My husband loves them and eats them most days. I can't be in the house when he cooks them because the smell of cooking eggs makes me want to throw up.
  • I love TJ's Vegetable Samosas. They are in the freezer section with the appetizers. I will often eat three of them for lunch (250 calories total I think) with a little bit of cheese. Their Spanakopita is also really good and I like the vegetable masala burgers too. I get the low fat Almond granola to put in my yogurt. I…
  • Where do you guys get all that protein? I am under virtually every day and it is usually by a lot.
  • I lost 40 lbs. four years ago. I have discovered by gaining and then losing 15 lbs. back again (twice!) that I HAVE to track. I make good food choices naturally as far as health goes but I still lose perspective over time of how MUCH I am eating. I believe that I will be tracking in some form for the rest of my life.
  • I am completely addicted the the Luna Bars Nutz Over Chocolate flavor. The rest of them are ok (some of them are less than ok, actually) but I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Nutz Over Chocolate ones.
  • I am completely and totally addicted to the vegetable samosas. I eat them for lunch a lot. I also really like their granola almond cereal. I sprinkle it on top of my yogurt in the morning. In fact, I am going to do that right now!
  • I am 5' 6.5" and it would be impossible for me to weigh 115. Now...I am not a small boned person and tend to build muscle. My goal is 135 or so and at that weight I get called skinny ALOT. I would think to get down to 115 you would have to be built like a bird. The first two weeks on a weight loss journey you will tend to…
  • Remember that most people don't do what you are doing - take control of their weight, their diet, their health. They see it as at the very least terribly difficult if not impossible. To most people losing 20 lbs. might as well be taking a trip to the moon. However, you know what you are doing...you have this under control.…
  • You generally lose weight much faster the first two weeks then it sort of settles down to a smaller but consistent number. I lost three lbs. the first week and two the second. Since then it has been about a lb. a week or just slightly over.
  • I just switched all my dishes to fiesta ware....I love the stuff. I have two suggestions...Macy's has good deals on it when they have sales (and they seem to have them constantly). Also, Replacements (www.replacements.com) has some good deals on Fiesta but you have to look around a bit. Some of the stuff they have is…
  • A Plateau is a lot longer than a few days. You need to be "stuck" at the same weight for a number of weeks before it is a plateau.
in plateau?? Comment by Teeladog July 2011
  • I am in the same boat...lost 40 lbs., gained 15 back, lost that 15 and gained it back again. For me it is all about logging because otherwise I just simply don't pay attention to what I am eating at all. I am going to go add you as a friend right now...
  • Mine is low 60's usually.
  • I think so. Or, to rephrase that, I think that all people are different and their bodies process what they put in them differently (withing certain parameters, of course). I am pretty sure that I have a higher than average metabolism, for example. I have a pretty active lifestyle and I try to account for that on my base…
  • One day doesn't really matter at all. Just take care of yourself and feel better...
