Oh, and people tend to walk everywhere, most shopping is in the downtown core with no vehicle access. I tend to drive to box malls but that just isn't the way in the UK.

Things are much more expensive in the UK in my experience, clothing, movies, day to day living sort of things. Housing prices are out of this world. I love visiting there, though... loving visiting the US too (I'm Canadian).

I've done a variety of things over the years (lost 100 lbs): *given to a friend for her mom. *donated to a charity shop. *gave to a women-returning-to-work organisation. *gave to women's shelter. *rags, made quilts. *recycled to other wear (work tops become gym tops, sleep tops). *I now buy pants that fit properly but have…

I always get the Italian (white) bread, and recently started getting the grilled chicken breast. Lots of veggies, and mustard. No cheese.

I lost 100 lbs, got pregnant, gained that weight, lost gain, gained a few lbs here and there, lost gain, etc. It did get easier for me once I passed certain "landmarks." For example, now that I am under 200 lbs, I am pretty confident I won't go over again. It is just a mental thing for me. Losing 100 lbs took me about a…

People stare at me a fair amount. I have been told I *look* friendly :ohwell:

I have had anxiety attacks at certain periods in my life. One thing I tried that took time was to set boundaries with people that were causing me stress. For example, my mother called me several times a week, which compounded with other things, gave me attacks. I talked and talked to her and eventually got her to call less…

Chee Cha Puffs, Black Pepper and Salt Flavour.

Maybe try some pureed peaches in your oatmeal. You can get those jars of baby food and just stir it in (it is like apple sauce). Pureed peaches have the same effect as prunes.

This came up on another weight loss board I am on. I personally didn't notice I was gaining weight until I had gained *a lot* of weight. I do believe there is a small percentage of people who are like me. I was actually annoyed that no one told me when I started to gain weight, everyone mentioned it when I had gained a lot…

My husband is very overweight, has high cholesterol and has a family history of heart attacks. I don't want my son to grow up an orphan. That's why I am losing weight.

Leeks can be made into potato leek soup. There are high and low fat versions of that available. Turnip and parsnip can both be roasted or mashed, you'll be able to treat them fairly similarly. You can also boil them. Eggplant and zucchini can also be treated similarly. I'd be tempted to make a vegetarian penne with them,…

Yes.... don;t know what that is and afraid to ask ;)

I have sciatica and it is similar to that. Maybe google it and see if that sounds like what it is. There are a few stretches a chiropractor (or probably a RMT or someone) can show you that will help if that is what it is.

I used to be pretty "pro" diet soda. I had a health problem that required me to give up caffeine 3 weeks ago. So far I have noticed I am not eating as much (a lot of food for me "needed" to be paired with a diet soda, now that I am not having that, I just don't eat as much). And less gas :blushing:

Same here. I was 290 and when I dropped to 190 there was a big difference in my cycles.

Oh, fritatta is good as well. It is just eggs and veggies baked in the oven. You can use less egg yolks to lower the calories. Use frozen veggies and it is pretty cheap.

Is it possible that you are guessing the size of your servings incorrectly? It is very easy to think 1.5 cups of rice was a cup.... Primarily, though, I think you may need to eat more as well. How much are you exercising?
-
This might sound a little weird but I used to eat this when I was in a rush sometimes. There are different low fat Mexican style soups you can buy and serve over rice for a cheap and quick main dish. I cook the rice in advance. I find this is a good meal for when I am going out after work and just going home for a quick…

It you are in Canada, two stores, Ricki's and Reitmans have a number of styles and they are smallish stores so the staff is willing to help. I often throw myself on the mercy of the sales person and explain my problem. They know the cut of what they have in stock and can help you avoid frustration.

My husband does that, I'm marginally better but I always have a snack in the evening. I do think that you're probably ok if you are in your calories, the only thing for me was that I was a bit "binge-ish" some nights. I didn't like that so I worked on it over time. The other thing that I would be concerned about is low…

I'm 5'4" and shooting for 145lbs. I'm an hourglass shape and have a large frame. Lower than that for me starts to look sickly and people ask questions about my health. So, I'm just going for 145. I'll see when I get there if I want to go any lower.

Lost 100 lbs and my bras just fit better. Although near the end I did go down a band size twice. So I started out 38DD and ended up 34DD.

Guess I need to start a dating profile. My house is getting really messy.

I started dieting at 290 and have lost 100 lbs. I am 37. I will say that the loose skin for me got better with time. It took months at times but it did improve. In some areas, like the stomach, once there was less weight to it, it didn't "hang" and actually got quite flat. Don't doubt the power of spanx in the meantime ;)…

I use the plain instant (just because I'm lazy!) and I add skim milk and fruit to it. Usually I add banana or berries. This is great for people that don't like the texture, the skim milk thins it. Also, a great evening snack or dessert substitute is fat free vanilla yogurt, pineapple and oatmeal.

Not my business. I wouldn't say anything.

I don't think you'll have much problem. I also thought that I would let you know that if you can't get in the ride, you'll most probably easily go into the exiting people line, you don't have to walk back past all the people that are waiting to get in the line, so it isn't embarrassing. Also, you'll see people of all…

For those of you that can't afford a gym, check your local Y and see if they offer a sliding membership scale, mine does. As for the original question, at 5'4" I started going to the gym at almost 300 lbs. No one ever said anything negative to me. Instructors always helped me and if I took a class without singling me out…

Thanks for all the tips. I have been to the UK before but not when my diet was so restricted. I'm mainly concentrating on not sucking back my weight in battenburg cake  I think I asked for chains and such, mainly because I'll have my 4 year old with me. I find we can eat one sit down meal a day and for the others we…
