  • Try this to convert kilojoules to calories. Just Google there are lots of sites/converters online. http://www.convertunits.com/from/kilojoules/to/calories
  • I'm interested too. Had a fight with my doctor last month (she called the head of dept in). They want to put me on statins I refused until all other options have been tried. Also say I'm pre-diabetic , don't statins now have a warning that they can cause diabetes? Could they push me over? What about Niacin or fenugreek…
  • If you know the values for the original/starting yogurt, measure and compare the starting weight/volume to the final weight/volume. If starting = 500g and final =250g you know to just valuesx2 etc. This is assuming that the drained whey/water itself has no nutritional values! Is this right?
  • I've been hypo for 25 years and been post menopausal for 8 years (at 46). Nice combo for weight concerns. Luckily my hypo was diagnosed quickly and treatment started straight away. Ups and downs along the way, but once you find your right dose the clouds lift. Helps to have family/friends support. At the beginning I…
  • National flower of Jordan, where I'm now living. Plus my age when I first joined MFP.
  • I too have 6 children, 24,23,22,20,16 and 10. After the first I was hypothyroid (still am). With the last (at the age of 41) I had to have bed rest for two months because of bleeding due to a low placenta followed by a c-section a month early (healthy 3.5kg boy). With a total of almost 3 months inactivity my muscle…
  • I also make my own almond milk, but not too sure how to work out the nutritional values. How do you calculate them?

  • I've noticed that humidity has more to do with the 'amount' of sweat. When it's hot and dry you don't notice the amount of sweat so much as it evaporates off quicker. When it's the same temp but really humid you feel as if you're soaked.
  • Mine is the national flower of Jordan :flowerforyou: where I am resident, and 49 my age (need to make that 50 later this year- yikes:ohwell: ).
  • I just love the smell of basmati when it's cooking.
  • Here they all use semneh (clarified butter) or solid vegetable fat. I'm concerned about the sat fat in the semneh and the hydrogenated fats in the vegetable fat. So I usually use a little vegetable/corn/sunflower oil, or like a previous poster olive oil. No fat/oil at all is probably better for you, but the addition gives…
  • I found a flavoured milk drink that stated- serving size 100ml, then gave all the values for the 100ml, OK. But the carton was 330ml, which most people would drink in one go- just like a pepsi/coke can!! Also what annoys me is the small print used, I know some packs are small and there's not much room, but sometimes I feel…
  • Sometimes I drink plain carbonated, soda water. This doesn't have anything in it, does it??? :frown:
  • I've just had a look at the site. Don't know what to think yet, but I've signed up for the newsletters. How is everyone else getting on with the Blueprint idea. Is it working for you?
  • When making bread I only put a teaspoon of sugar with the yeast to start it. The rest is usually flour, one egg, a little olive oil, salt and either water or milk. The choice of the combination is up to you, varying for taste and consistency etc. Why add extra sugar? You'll end up with a doughnut mix.
  • After watching the video I started looking at some of the food labels. I had quite a shock!:noway: The fat free Nesvita pro-bones milk I've been using has FRUCTOSE in it. I know I had read somewhere that to look out for added sugars in low/non fat foods. This is beyond a joke- reducing fat only to add sugars instead!
  • I feel so guilty.:embarassed: I haven't booked my meals for two days, been eating at the in-laws and food restriction duing the hols is a no,no there. My husband's sisters make me smile, they refuse to have sugar in their tea but will eat cakes and other sweets, even candy-floss. Dreading the weigh-in this week, hope…
  • Female Height 161cm SW 67kg CW 63kg GW 60kg Calories1200 w/o exercise Eat most of my exercise calories. (sorry we use metric here, 2.2 lb to the kg I think)
  • Thanks, it seems so straight forward, but just wanted to check. I've been looking at some past posts for resistance bands, easy once I found the search on the new layout :embarassed: , seems I'll have to invest in a HRM if I want to include it in the cardio. Like you picture, is it Brains from 'Pinky and Brains'?
  • I've just been to the link. I loved the cartoons.I think my kids will love them too. I,m not that young, but being a Brit most are unfamilar to me. Certainly brought a smile to my face and reminds me a lot of my two lads.
  • Glad you liked it. I didn't know who the character was, just found it on a site when I was looking for values for melokhia (Jew's mellow). (www.bakesmith.co.in/whychooseus.php) There are a couple more of the cartoons on the same page of the link if you like, also some interesting info on fats.
  • I'm in Jordan, but originally from the West Midlands UK.
  • I get soda water and add fruit juice to it. I find that many fruit juices are high in calories so I buy a decent one and 'water' it down with the soda water. Is this ok or is it as bad as diet and non-diet sodas??? :frown:
  • I remember seeing a programme where 'Seinfield's' (is that how it's spelt) wife does a similar thing to her family's food. Hiding veggies in cakes, brownies, cookies and well, in about everything. I think it was in an ep of Oprah with Doc Oz. Think she's also got a book- can't remember what it's called though.
  • Calendar age : 49 Realage : 46.1 Difference -2.9 Says I need to take Vit E. I was taking it last year until my doc frightened me off it. He said it was linked to heart failure. Heard you have to be taking a hell of a lot to be concerned. A lot more than the 400 IU a day. Is that right?
  • Nice morning. It's 11.18am here -big time diff.
