  • Grab some fruit or raw veggies. If that doesn't satisfy you, eat something else in moderation. Word to the wise, don't starve your body or you will gain weight at first because your body tries to conserve while in starvation mode. I get cravings for carbs right before bed. Hope that helps some. Kathy
  • Have you considered a possible hormonal imbalance? Possibly the reason you were unable to loose weigh? Kathy
  • Hi. I just started yesterday. I am consuming 1200 cals when not working and 1400 - 1600 cals when working. I work as a nurse so work is pretty physically demanding. I LOVE the shakes and see this working. There is a lot of protein in the shakes. Make sure that you drink plenty of water (unless you doctor tells you…
  • I came to this conclusion a few days ago. I am gaining so much weight....and WHY? I started thinking...about the same things that you did...I don't drink and I don't smoke for the same reasons, but I'm addicted to food...and Yes as Anne has said, it is a disease. And it does need to be dealt with physically by exercise and…
  • Hi. I kind of agree with you, but with any lifestyle change there are going to be avoidance foods such as carbs. If you're like me....one cookie becomes 2 and then 3 and 4, etc. I am considering the surgery, but scared to death. I am an off again on again kind of person. It goes with my personality. I am working with a…
  • WELL, I'm a nurse too. RN on a Transplant Unit. I see a lot of end stage diseases secondary to obesity related illnesses. I have some of those illnesses. Have you ever seen or even experienced someone who is suffering with diabetes and their kidneys have shut down? Or hypertension for the same thing. How bout someone…
  • Would you mind if we became friends. Sounds like you and I are on similar paths. I am on a presurgical dietary path as well. I didn't qualify for the gastric sleeve. Ironically, I qualify for gastric bypass. I have a feeling that my presurgical dietary changes may last 6 months too. I too am being monitored. Right now they…
  • Hi. Yes. I am working with a Bariatric Team and they said that all beverages that do not contain caffiene can be counted. So, yes...I count my crystal light in daily. Kathy
  • I'm there too. I was told about the surgery and there is a possiblity it may still happen. I have a few comorbitities with my obesity. My BMI is 36. I've learned that it's not just about loosing the weight. It's about loosing it and keeping it off. Keeping it off is the hardest part, even after surgery (so I'm told). You…
  • I really don't think I can do this healthy eating anymore. I have tried and tried. I'm even working with a bariatric team. I'm so frustrated I just want to cry. I don't understand how eating such a small amount of food can make people feel satisfied. I try to only eat 350 cals per meal and then I get hungry an hour later.…
  • LOL  That's hilarious....did your doctor sleep through....the seminar...?? LOL...how true. So many doctors have no clue. You are SOOOO right! :flowerforyou: Kathy Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Online Calorie Counter
  • Actually, being overweight is a chronic problem that can lead to other problems yes. And these obsity related illnesses are also chronic. Starving your body is an acute problem than can cause some serious problems. One of which is an electrolyte imbalance. Also, the word dieting is easy to say, but should really be a long…
  • You're doc told you to cut out all carbs and buy a treadmill. He isn't very well versed in weighloss. You have to have carbs for your body to function. Your brain is a good example, runs on carbs. Wow. Sorry, that just seems so extreme. :noway: Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Online Calorie Counter Kathy
  • Hi there. I'm sorry she did that. She should have been more considerate about your feelings. I'm on a strict diet. It's the optifast partial liquid meal replacement. I was skeptical about it at first, but I have some serious complications from being obese. I have fatty liver, staged and HAD hypertention but since my…
  • Hi. I used to be addicted to diet coke. It is bad for us older women because it can start early osteoporosis. While dieting you should always limit the amount of caffeine that you take in because caffeine acts as a diuretic and that's the last thing you need while dieting...being dehydrated that is. Everything in…
  • All the time. And you can't be hard on yourself. Don't tell yourself that you will start tomorrow...start as soon as you think of it, if you can. You have to have the cheat days from time to time. I had one today. Don't beat youself up over it. It's okay...as long as it doesn't progress into day after day... Best wishes to…
  • Hi. If you're working out a lot and eating only 1300 calories, I can tell you with confidence that your body is in starvation mode and you won't loose anything. This low of a caloric intake with as much aerobic exercising you are doing can cause your body to burn muscle. Please be careful. How I know this? Well, I'm in a…
  • I second that!!!
  • Yeah see, it's weird. I wrote exactly what the box said. I think it means 1/2 cup dry mix which is in the box = 40 cals. When added to milk= 100 cal for 1/2 cup but the box makes 2 total cups once mixed with milk. It's very confusing. I called my sister and she thought what you did the 1st time around. It was only 40…
  • Hi. That's not too bad. At least you know what you did. As long as you get back on track it's okay here and there. It's impossible (usually, not always), to stay 100% on track all the time. There are going to be times where you splurge. You didn't splurge too bad...and you know what you did wasn't good, but you knew to get…
  • Hi. I'm not new, but I haven't been around in a bit. I have a question. I tried to add something into my food diary but couldn't because the food that was in the database was a little different than what I ate. The label on the container is driving me nuts! Lol.:grumble: Instant Vanilla Royal Pudding & Pie Filling Net WT:…
  • FYI people...when you get off track, it's twice as hard to get back.
  • Thanks.
  • Hey...it's been awhile since I've posted. I got away from my lifestyle change and managed to only maintain. I didn't gain any weight which is good. I just had surgery to have my gallbladder out so food has been an issue for me before and after the surgery. Will I ever be able to eat 100% healthy. I look at my daily intake…

  • :flowerforyou: I can see why...you're making the same mistakes that I am...protein. My dieticians are telling me that I don't add protein to each of my meals. I see some protein in yours, but it's probably not enough. That will keep you satified longer. However, one thing that they weren't getting was that I too was…
  • Ok....so I was naughty....to say the least...still managed to stay within my caloric intake for the day tho. :drinker: Anyhoo..... I was looking at the caloric intake of Domino's pepperoni pizza and the MFP calories is for a 14 inch slice. What does that mean? Length? I think if it was width...that would be a fairly large…

  • You might actually have a low sodium content in your body. Sometimes drinking too much water can be as bad as drinking too little. Both of which can offset your electrolytes. Maybe the salt is not being obsorbed because of all the water in take? Salt follows water. What are you eating? Are you on a diuretic? There could be…

  • I'm a hybrid....half and half. I would prefer not to eat meat, but sometimes I'm in the mood. I HAVE tho, taken red meat out of the pic altogether.
