It sounds like you are in the right place.. both by being in MFP, as well as in the right 'head space'. About 7 years ago (age 55) a 'quote' from my Dr got me started too ... in discussing why my blood pressure was now consistently hovering around 130/80 instead of the 120/80 it had been maintained at for many years with…

my husband is 9 years younger than i am (i'm 56), but we will likely never know what age range i would prefer to date, as he might not appreciate me dating at all *chuckling* note: i have always preferred older men. No idea what happened. He looks older than i do, does that count? LOL

I can say that when I started my journey here on mfp, I indeed found myself going to bed 'hungry' for about the first 7 to 10 days. An unheard of situation for me since evenings was ALWAYS my worst time for cravings, and I indulged them. But once I started really tracking what I was eating, here on mfp, I did not give in…

the worst? 6 years old (yes, 6) partway through grade two, the school decided I should be moved ahead early into grade three, so 1/2 way through the year I was moved ahead. First day, walking into grade 3 classroom, already feeling very awkward as these kids had all been together 1/2 a year already and i didn't know them,…

this i usually prefer to always cook things from scratch whenever possible... BUT.. life it too short (and i have too many other things to do), so i refuse to feel guilty about buying pre-cooked, pre-peeled, hardboiled eggs when having them all ready in the fridge often makes the difference between a good and a bad 'I'm…

i love it and use it in soups (after taking soup off the heat) and i find it has become an excellent, tasty, replacement for salt for me in many soups. Drinking it straight, or with water, as some advocate, made me nauseous .. yuck! I was rather disappointed actually to discover that, as i do love it's flavour in foods.

ooh!! this! love this!!! *LOL*

I am laughing as I read this... as just 15 minutes ago I swear I spent a few minutes posing in front of bathroom mirror checking to see how my 'collar bone visibility' was doing *LOL*

according to my family I am 100% pain in the butt. *LOL* but seriously... I am 1/2 welsh, 1/4 english, 1/4 maltese... grew up in Bermuda where I was always one of the very few 'white' kids in my classes. I would say my heritage may explain my mannerisms *LOL*... man can I ever hold a grudge, never stop talking, and lets…

the worst thing about losing weight? the regret that I did not do so MANY years ago! So much wasted time.

I'd been on blood pressure medication for 13 years.. and it maintained my pressure at an even 120/80. But, a couple of years ago, for several quarterly Dr check-ups in a row, my blood pressure was sitting at 130/82 ish... regardless of me trying (or so I thought) to cut back on sodium. On voicing my concern about this, my…

of course i had to look since the spelling in the topic made me chuckle. That being said, what the heck is with guys not wanting to be hairy? Count me as one of the women who don't mind one way or the other, hairy or not, both are appealing. It's kinda like circumcision LOL ... circumsized or not, hairy or not... have…

My Dr taking me off my high blood pressure meds last fall (after being on them for over 12 years) was a major milestone for me. (that was only meds i…

Far far more headaches are caused by dehydration than most of us realize. Personally, I know if I am not drinking enough water i end up waking up most mornings with a headache, and wondering 'why' before I realize.. oops! not getting enough water lately. "Enough" for me is right up there with the recommended '1/2 your body…

just made these.... they were terrific (made 6 cookies), but much as i am trying to keep sodium low, i did find i wish they had had a touch of salt.. that being said, using some almond butter as cookie 'icing' turned them into a complete meal.. yum!

For the first 8 months of this stage of my journey (since joining mfp), i faithfully followed a 1200 calorie plan. I felt fantastic, my doctor was thrilled with me, both by my progress AND by the foods/calories i was choosing. He said.. and i quote " you are like my star patient! I wish more of my patients would follow…

"i" wasn't able to be hot at 40... but I sorta feel like I am at 56 :)

i can beat that... my HUSBAND said he could not see any difference... until one day while grocery shopping... he passed by the end of the aisle i was in, twice, while looking for me... (i never noticed him as i was busy reading labels *L*) finally, i heard him laughing, walking up the aisle towards me, saying 'ok, that's…

I had a neighbour, who had not seen me in over a year, spot me one day and not recognize me. I stopped and said hello to her and you could see the confusion and then the dawning realization show on her face as she finally recognized me. Then she blurted out "oh my god you've have lost so much weight!" then immediately…

i've always detested them *LOL* But since hubby likes them i have tried to find ways to eat them..and only way i can handle them at all is roasted, sprinkled with olive oil, salt, red pepper flakes. Cannot say i 'like' them but at least i can handle eating them that way.

LMAO thank you for the good laugh *S*

not sure what the statistics are, but I have read that there is a correlation between lack of control in one area affecting a lack of control in other areas of ones life. I know for a fact that my home was a direct reflection of how I was feeling when I was seemingly unable (unwillingly?) to take control of my weight once…

1/2 welsh, 1/4 english, 1/4 maltese Mother Canadian, but her parents were english (my grandmother) and maltese (my grandfather) . Birth Father Welsh (so were his parents) Funny when you think of it... my grandparents families were the same, culturally, waaaaay back for many generations (in some cases have been…
