  • Great thread, thanks! Just wanted to point out to those watching nutrients that MFP changes your alotments of nutrients based on the exercise you enter. So although I usually am only supposed to have 24 grams of sugar, running for 115 minutes gets me 50 grams.
  • "It don't make me no difference." And "dethaw". You can defrost and you can thaw. But you can't do both!!
  • You can't help but love them, even when they drive you more crazy than anything!! I loved your zumba post, too. My fiance loves to dance and he does it much better than I do! Lol!!
  • This is the most hysterical thread ever. I've started working from home, so mine shall be directed to the newest addition to our family.... My dearest sweet fuzzy bundle of love, I DO NOT have time to take you outside 20 times a day. It may appear as though I am just sitting here, but it isn't my fault you don't understand…
  • You read my mind! I start thinking about those things as soon as fall hits... and today was the first really cold day! MMM!!
  • Just try putting all kinds of stuff on there! I LOVE avocado and have found that I don't need dressing with it. I also put on there tomatos, red onion, sprouts, mushrooms, and carrots. In SMALL quantities (you gotta be careful because this stuff adds up calorie-wise) cranberries, raisins, dates, walnuts, almonds, ect.…

  • HRMs can't accurately measure strength training. They are made to measure repetitive cardio so the number you get is not technically correct as far as calories. My fiance uses a HRM for strength training and subtracts 100-200 calories to make up for it; I just consider strength training a bonus and only log my cardio…
  • ditto! even just .2 pounds can get you excited!
  • You can also alternate muscle groups if you really want to do strength training every day. We do shoulders and back one day, biceps triceps another and legs and lower back the third day. I think you're doing a great job!
  • Definately! We started training at the end of Feb for a half on June 4. Had never run before and we ran the whole time... 2 hrs 15 min!! Good luck!!!
  • I have passed out after running because I had not eaten enough or drank enough water. It's hard balancing the weight loss with needing enough fuel to keep your body going. Make sure to drink plenty of water and at least a snack before you work out. Maybe a few more carbs before working out? The heat of the summer also…
  • One trick I use is eating a meal before I go out to run errands. That way I'm not as tempted to stop for something. Also, after awhile of eating good food like lots of fruits and veggies, the fast food doesn't taste as good as it used to. In the mean time, try getting grilled chicken (no sauce or cheese) and skipping the…

  • One really good thing Olive Garden does is those Dolcini desserts. It's like a shot of dessert so you can just eat a tiny bit. We share one and that way we get dessert without blowing our calories. Those breadsticks though... man I remember eating tons of those things WITH the alfredo dipping sauce! Ugh! Once you start…
  • I have thought about how there will be less surface to my legs and how nice that will be for shaving! But mostly, I'm a minimalist so I LOVE getting rid of clothes (most of which I don't like anyway) so I'm hoping by the time I reach my goal weight, my closet will be nearly empty! Lol. I work from home so I can wear the…
  • I started at 206 in Feb 2010. We worked out, but didn't change our eating habits much. In Feb 2011 I was at 188 and started MFP and training for a half marathon. Now I'm around 151... so clearly MFP is much more effective than not!!! :-D

  • We use the Polar FT7 for a HRM (cheapest on Amazon... in the low $80s) and track distance, speed, ect with an android app on the phone (jog tracker). Good luck!
  • Congrats!! I CANT WAIT until that day!!! You go girl!

  • MFP won't put you at less than 1200 calories a day because it isn't technically healthy.
  • We use jog tracker on Android. You put in your activity before you start (running, bicycling, ect) and it tracks your run on a google map and gives you stats like pace, distance, ect. Great for entering in MFP. You can also link it to Facebook if you want all your friends to know exactly what your up to. My fiance likes…
  • Agree with all of the above... and I just bought a few outfits and try not to wear the same ones around the same people too often! Ha ha. There is currently only one pair of jeans in my closet, but since [hopefully] they won't fit me for too long, I'll just have to wear them out in a few months! :-D CONGRATS and hooray for…
  • Mostly I'm just really fanatical about MFP. My fiance and I don't really "diet," just eat everything in moderation. We still eat dessert occasionally, just in small portions and we'll share. If we go out to eat, I look at the menu and nutrition facts online and plan what I will eat before we go so I know how many calories…
  • We got this polar heart rate monitor from amazon..... http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001U0OFDC less than a month ago. It came with a chest strap. That's all you need. Usually we just put on the strap and watch and go. Although if it doesn't pick up your heart rate you can add a little water to the electrodes. Congrats!…
  • Most AWESOME NSV pic EVER!! Way to go!!
  • I would plan out how many calories to save for the evening and roughly plan out what to eat. Decide ahead of time how much you will drink, planning it into your calories. And make a small plate of snacks from what is available and eat from that throughout the night. Don't get more or give in to the temptation to nibble…
  • I'm a potato chip addict so I needed something crunchy, too. I really like Special K savory herb crackers. :-D
  • BEST water bottles, hands down.... Water "Bobbles"... search "Bobble" on amazon. The water bottles have filters on the top that filter the water as you drink. The filters need to be replaced after about 2 months like brita pitchers, but they work really well! We keep 6 full in the fridge at all times so when you want a…
